Plane vs. cow

Link.

Video (About 40 seconds in.)

Anyone remember that old Far Side cartoon? ‘Hey, what’s that mountain goat doing way up here in the clouds?’

Was it facing north?

Not to bad, the prop wasn’t running. I first thought of a prop and the ensuing hamburger rain.

Better that than Chocolate Rain.

I can’t tell for certain, but years ago, visiting a friend up in the countryside and talking by the side of the landing strip with a couple agricultural pilots I think they mentioned a colleague that was killed on a bovine crash while doing crop dusting.
Later that day one of the pilots nearly picked a cow up by the horns while flying low in his Cub!.

Anyway, that cow got lucky, a Tiger Moth is mostly a bag of wires and wood, it probably had her head bounced on the fabrid under the wing.

Given that the plane didn’t jslte even a smidgen, I have to beleive they didn’t collide. The cow may have fallen trying to duck or somesuch.

No way a 1000-1200 lb plane hits a 500+ lb cow at 30-50 mph with a wingtip & doesn’t yaw, much less cartwheel.

Maybe the cow just had a bit of a fainting goat moment from the shock?

I wonder if the Cow will paint an airplane on her hide to commerate the occasion.

That sounds like the beginning of a joke, “How is a cow like a duck?”

Given that the aircraft was damaged, it seems they did make contact. The article said ‘lower left wing’, not ‘wingtip’. I think Ale is correct. The pilot said the aircraft ‘was very slightly damaged’. That could mean that the only damage was a tear in the fabric. Any jostling may have been attenuated in the video by the wide-angle lens.

Nothing like milking this story for all its worth.

This is MPSIMS so we’re allowed to be as udderly silly as we want.

Ground Beef?

You just had to add your two percent worth, eh?

They both leave a lot of shit to slip on.

Can we moove on already?

No waayaaaaa. Wait that’s a goat.

Whatever don’t have a cow. Fixed.

Well, the captain did tell the flight attendant he was hoping to get a little dairy air.

The cow, if it’s prepared.

When you knock over a cow with a plane is it cow tipping?
