I think it’s impossible to know for sure at this point, but that’s the prevailing wisdom of them as know best.
Where in my post did I say people shouldn’t get augmented if they want?
Where in my post do offer my ideas about what I think is attractive? (Though admitedly, I do mention what HoosierDaddy likes).
What I am questioning is why it seems so acceptable (to the point where there are now shows about it on the Entertainment network) that somehow breast size and self-esteem are tied together. My concern is that cosmetic surgery is becoming so commonplace that women everywhere with perfectly normal breasts will have them pumped up because everyone else is doing it and that to fit into society’s AESTHETIC will require surgery. I’m also concerned that risks (infection, inability to breastfeed, silicone leaks, etc.) are glossed over by surgeons making big profits by selling “self-esteem”.
I realize the differences between breast augmentation and female castration. I am pointing out the similarity in that both are surgical alterations of sexual characteristics. Not saying don’t do either - just wondering if anybody is really doing any hard thinking about what motivates this.
I hope that my daughters will remember what their breasts are for - nursing their young. My wee almost A’s performed the job perfectly for both of my kids, so no chip on these shoulders - and no bra strap ruts either.
Of course this has nothing, whatsoever, to do with Fiver’s thread. She’s talking about a decision she’s researched and discussed with professionals. Your opinion about the entire industry doesn’t really belong here. Fiver isn’t asking is she SHOULD get the surgery, she’s asking for opinions of people who have had it.
It might be nice to start your own thread in Great Debates about the merits of cosmetic breast enhancement, rather than hijacking Fiver’s thread with your own agenda.
I would love to be as pretty as you!
/sigh.
Please accept my apology, Fiver, for the hijack. I’m new to the boards and learning that digressions typical in an ordinary conversation seem to be frowned on in cyber space.
Best wishes for both your satisfaction and your speedy recovery.
Aww, thanks, Sheila!
But don’t think for a moment I roll out of bed looking like that!
My A cups are reading this thread with great interest.
'course I had to take my shirt off
