We used to throw an annual party, then our basement flooded. Our house is small, so the loss of usable space and the extra TV sort of precluded the possibility of hosting. We finally got the house in good enough order to allow for the party again, so it’s back on. At the moment we’re looking at up to 25 people, which is a little much, but, hey, it’ll be cozy, I guess.
We are going to Ikea, which is usually packed, but I’m hoping will be empty. I just found out today who is playing. Now, ask me where I’ll be on opening day and I will have a very different answer.
I’ll be enjoying a quiet Sunday evening at home. If I was ambulatory (I ruptured my Achilles tendon 12 days ago), I’d take advantage of where the crowds aren’t, and go shopping.
I’m with you. Hubs and I can watch the entire game, hear every word and pause and go back as we wish. I hate parties where the point is to watch TV or movies - people just talk and talk and talk. My cousin has an Oscar party every year, and even thought we hang out all the time, we always skip that party.
If I’m going to watch something, I’m going to WATCH it.
Well, few of us here in the Valley have satellite and cable is not available, so unless we go to a sports bar in Gatlinburg then watching the game isn’t really an option. Honestly, this is the first year that I can remember when I haven’t followed football voraciously. It is rather strange that merely moving to a place without easy access to TV will cause your entire perspective on modern culture to change profoundly.
We have a large (30+ people) party starting tonight and going through tomorrow. With the coming snow and ice predicted here, it is quite likely that I will be staying at the party site until well after the game starts. Few folks here even follow football. It is rather odd. I have a higher probability of having an interesting discussion about non-Hamiltonian dynamics and how that might affect our interpretation of quantum effects in photosynthesis than I would discussing the relative strengths of Kaepernick vs. Flacco.
I voted other, but ‘not watching’ would have probably been better. I’ll be working, although I expect a fair number of folks will be clustered around the cafeteria TVs and streaming on personal devices, I won’t be.
I’ll be at a party, and we will probably at least in part be watching the game, but it’s primarily a birthday party for my niece, not a Superbowl party.
We are hosting SB/wife’s birthday party. Between 7-10 people. Should be good time. I would still rather the game be on Saturday night so therefore people wouldn’t have to work the next day.
I saw maybe 8-10 minutes of a Super Bowl game once, but that was in several smaller chunks as I passed back and forth through the mess decks during the game…
Typical Sunday routine tomorrow - work 9-2, then come home and spend most of the afternoon and evening either reading or mucking about on the computer.
I did try to get in so I could listen to the Super Bowl, but that wasn’t really an original part of my plan, and it didn’t work anyways. I guess everything was too crowded. I am pissed at Yahoo for claiming to have radio coverage, which I did load, until the game had started and they still weren’t covering it, instead having callers call in to discuss it. Liars.
