Doubtful. I don’t watch sports, and I have a paper and some reading to work on, so that’s what I’ll be doing this Sunday. Book learnin’ instead of sports watchin’: the height of unAmericanism!
We’re passing on the game, but are still throwing ourselves a food bash. Three kinds of wings, fries, quesadillas, lots of beer. We’ll just be watching movies instead of a bunch of 'roided-up monsters slamming into each other.
Besides, Spring Training is just around the corner! I must remain true.
My Wifes family are RABID Pittsburgh fans. My Wife not so much. We will probably have the game on at some point thought. Sunday, right? I actually went to a game with my Wifes family once.
I asked my Wife If I could take a book. She advised against it, but later agreed that I should have.
My dad took us to one basball game. This was back in the late 60’s. 13 innings ended up 1-0. hurray, we get to leave. (Cubs and sombody)
I watch Browns games every Sunday and talk about football with my friends and all that (well my few friends who follow football) but I generally forget about football once the Browns’ season is over (which is usually the last regular-season game of the year) and have to look up who is in the Super Bowl. I generally don’t watch it.
I don’t usually watch when the Steelers [spit] are in the SB but this year I’ll probably check it out because my SIL is a huge Packers fan.
Anyway, I’m a football fan and I don’t even watch the Super Bowl. It’s not un-American to do so.
I’ll probably watch, because it’s the one football game we watch all year, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens. My grandpa is a Packers fan, my boyfriend’s from WI so he’s sort of a Packers supporter by default, and my BIL’s family are all Steelers fans. I think it ought to be an interesting game just for that.
But yeah, if I didn’t have family who supported both teams, I wouldn’t bother, either. For us it’s mostly an excuse to eat wings and stuff in front of the TV, anyway.
This will mark 30 years since the last time I watched. I got out of the habit when I worked for Spencer Gifts and they always had inventory on Super Bowl Sunday. Once I left there, I saw to reason to watch again.
Unless the Jets get into it, but I’m probably safe on that account (though I had a couple of scares the last two years).
Years ago, someone on the boards here coined the phrase “Superb Owl” for the game.
No, we will not be watching the Superb Owl either, although sometimes I turn it on for a few minutes to see the commercials if I happen to be at home, and happen to have the TV on.
I might see the end of the game, as I want to see Glee (which I still think is an odd choice or programming after the Superb Owl broadcast) and want to make sure Glee starts on time for the DVR. If the game runs longer or something, don’t want to miss that show.
Now, when it comes time for Oscars, I will be glued to the television, with food and drinks all handy and ready to go. I miss living in West Hollywood where all the Gay bars made a huge deal out of watching the Oscars and hearing all the snide, nasty comments from the patrons during the broadcast…quite funny, and more fun to watch with a group!
If you don’t watch the Super Bowl, then the terrorists have won!
When I was younger, it was a ‘can’t miss’ event. But in the past 10 years or so, it’s become an ‘it all depends on who’s playing’ event. As a long-time Steelers fan, I will definitely be watching this year
Quasi, I figured you’d be one to watch the Puppy Bowl instead.
We’re not watching the Superb Owl either. Thankfully, this husband isn’t much of a football fan and would rather watch movies (he’s watched Red about four times already this weekend).
I know a lot of people who love to get together and watch for the party aspect of it. That’s cool too, I’m just in a non-party mood these days.
