Great game. Only it’s a bit too easy. I’m not the best at tower defense games, and I just finished the main adventure mode without losing once. I don’t even know what the game over screen looks like, but I’ll probably find out when I try survival mode.
There are dozens of mini-games and doodads to collect, so it’s definitely worth the 10 bucks on Steam. The ending credit scroll is worth the price alone. I haven’t seen so much heart put into a game since… I don’t even remember.
It plays and sounds a lot like another addicting PopCap game called Insaniquarium. If it’s indeed the same team they are genius game designers and deserve rose pedals thrown at their feet.
I’m sure Carnick means Tall Nuts. Snow Peas are another way to slow down the progress of Pogos. The Magnet Shroom can also steal their pogo sticks. I learned the hard way that the Chomper is completely ineffective against them while they are bouncing, as are Squash.
One of the more challenging mini-games for me was Pogo Party, which takes place on the roof. This is particularly frustrating because the Kernel-pults cannot slow them down with butter shots unless you first knock them off the pogo stick. I noticed that you seem to get a little extra time to set up (probably because it’s such a challenging level) which you should absolutely use to lay down as many Sunflowers as possible before they start showing up. Don’t put down any other plants besides that until you see the first zombie come in. I found it’s then easiest to wait until you see which lanes the Pogos will come down, place a Tall Nut in front of them on column 5 and back them up with Kernel-pults, later supplementing them with Melon-pults. You should have just enough time for the Wall-Nut to recharge in between each zombie, but you could keep a Cherry Bomb on hand in case one gets by you before the Tall-Nut recharges. I suppose it goes without saying that you should keep upgrading your Sunflowers to twins, as well.
Now that you mention it, it is hard to keep a straight face while reading it again. Sounds rather like a surreal hallucination I once had while delirious with fever.
Great game. I love the endless I, Zombie and the Vase puzzle games. The first is slow as you puzzle out how to get through as cheap as possible and the other is faster paced with a touch of suspense.
