Please advise - very scared about vaginal bleeding (WARNING GORY PICTURES)

This is kind of a long post but bear with me because I’m terrified.

I’m a 23-year-old female who has never had sex but regularly masturbates. I was diagnosed with atypical PCOS (I was skinny and menstruated too often, instead of overweight and menstruated too little) at age 13 and endometriosis at age 15, which I am on continuous OCPs to manage. I have had problems with frequent breakthrough bleeding for the past 6 or so years.

I figure I should start off with a bit of history:

In mid 2012 I purchased a speculum (bad idea, I know) because I was curious. Upon examining myself I found a big red bulbous thing covering part of my cervix. As I removed the speculum in an attempt to readjust it to get a better look, I made the mistake of closing it while it was still inside of me, which must have “popped” whatever bulbous thing was on my cervix, because I felt a very intense cramp-like pain and then a river of blood came out with the speculum.

I did not have breakthrough bleeding at the time and the blood was too copious to be normal breakthrough bleeding. It stopped almost immediately, but enough came out in the big “gush” to soak my bedsheets nicely.

I had an appointment with my gynecologist several months later (couldn’t get anything sooner) and she said that my cervix looked normal. I didn’t tell her that I had purchased a speculum so I didn’t tell her what I had seen on my cervix that night. I had my first pap smear that day, which came back normal. Even though I’ve never had sex, my gyno had scared me by telling me that they have to check virgins for cellular changes in the cervix because some forms of cervical cancer aren’t caused by HPV.

I’ve had one more exam and pap smear since the first one (first one was June of 2012, my most recent one was June of 2013), both of which were normal.

I’ve always had a tendency to bleed a bit with masturbation, but it’s always been a very small amount, which I’ve heard can be normal for someone with endometriosis.

HOWEVER, not 30 minutes ago I was masturbating rather vigorously (sorry for the TMI but I was really jamming it in there) and suddenly realized that the incredible wetness between my legs was not vaginal lubrication, but blood - lots of it. Good thing I had put a puppy training pad underneath me beforehand, which I usually do due to my propensity to bleed a bit, because before I was even aware, the blood had soaked into the pad and was already creeping up my butt and onto my back.

Sorry to post gory pictures, but here’s my blood-covered hand after the incident to give you an idea of the amount of blood:

And here’s the puppy pad:

As it had the first time, the bleeding stopped almost immediately, but I had bled an alarming amount in the short amount of time. Also, as with the first time, I was on a rare respite from breakthrough bleeding and, until the river of blood that rivals the elevator scene in The Shining occurred, I simply had a nice whitish/clearish discharge.

Now I’m back to being freaked out that I have cervical cancer or something else that’s going to kill me. On Monday I’m going to call the doctors office and schedule an appointment with my gyno for the nearest available date, but until then I’m going to be shitting bricks.

Until then, does anyone have any ideas of what this could be??? Do you think it’s related to the angry-red bulbous thingy on my cervix from last year? Do you think it could be cancer and the pap smears just aren’t detecting it? I’ve looked at pictures of cervical ectropions, cervical polyps, endometrial polyps that extend into the cervix, the list goes on, and it would be great if it were one of those because they’re harmless and then I’d have an answer, but I have a tendency to always think of the worst case scenario.

Please help me!

I’ll give you the only advice you’re going to need: GO TO A DOCTOR!!!

You’re welcome.

Actually, go to a few different kinds of doctors.

Seriously. Go to a doctor.

I didn’t click on those links, because, fuck that shit…nope. But I just want to say that periods and the whole works with periods in general is proof that there is no god.

As I said in my OP, I am going to make an appointment on Monday. In the meantime I’m looking for any educated guesses as to what it could be caused by.

Claire, as a veteran of the dope, I can promise you, there will be one billion more posts for you to see the doctor, despite your post that you have a doctor appt. Monday.

and if you’re seriously that freaked out - go to the ER.

Posting this crap on the dope is nothing but an attention grab, and will do you no good.

Seriously it’s probably just a polyp or something.

I once had a similar problem but it didn’t start out of nowhere, it was caused by birth trauma. Theoretically you could have inflicted trauma on your cervix yourself, I guess… If so, it can be fixed with cauterization.

The only educated guess that’s worth anything is a doctor on the spot. We can’t see you, we can’t examine you, we can’t order lab work and so on.

Well, Simster, accusations of trollery is better than incessant pleas for the OP to see a doctor that she already stated she has an appt. for. I’ll allow it.

Was not an accusation of trollery, was a statement of fact regarding seeking attention (the thread title begs for attention and advise) that will not be of any real value.

Well if it’s that bad go to the emergency room or urgent care if you can’t wait until Monday. Sounds unpleasant but I didn’t click on your links.

Instead of being rude about it you could have just refrained from replying. Just saying.

You’re here asking for opinions - you get what you pay for - just saying.

Opinions on what you think could have caused the bleeding, NOT opinions on my intentions behind making the thread.

you already know what is causing the bleeding - you said as much in your OP - I gave you advice for what to do if you are truly ‘freaked out’ (which I sincerely doubt).

You’re here for attention.

And this is the last you will get from me on the subject.

Fair statement, but if you are really freaked out (understandably) then I suggest that waiting until Monday will be tortuous, so go to urgent care. So, being more specific, go to the doctor now.

No, I DON’T know what is causing the bleeding. I said that last year I had a bulbous mass on my cervix that I’m assuming burst. I have NO idea what it was and I have NO idea if it returned and is what caused my bleeding tonight. It could be cancer, it could be a polyp, it could be an ectropion, it could be any number of things.

And how dare you accuse me of not being truly freaked out and only being here for attention? You have no idea how scared I am right now, and have been for the past three or so hours. The bleeding stopped but you wouldn’t believe how still I’m holding myself as I lie in bed, for fear movement will start the bleeding again. And if I wanted attention, why would I seek it from a bunch of strangers on the internet when I could just get it from my parents, who are in the other room?

You’re an arrogant asshole.

The thing is, I don’t want to worry my parents, and I also don’t want them to know I’ve been masturbating. I suppose I could just say “hey, all of a sudden I had some very heavy vaginal bleeding”, but they’d probably get suspicious.
