Okay, so I recently saw a film called “The Story of Ricky” with my friend, which is currently the goriest film either of us had ever seen.
What I’m looking for is reccomendations for the out-and-out goriest films you people have ever seen. Please go for non-stop gore, not just a film with one very nasty scene.
Also, don’t nominate the usual choices those not very well-versed in splatter films would choose (Braindead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Evil Dead, etc. None of which are very gory), I’m looking for horror/splatter fans who can nominate me some extremely gory trash. Thanks.
“Dead Alive,” directed by Peter Jackson, goes at the top of my list. There’s one particularly memorable scene with zombies and a lawnmower. It’s hard to believe that the same guy did this and “Lord of the Rings.”
Isn’t that “Braindead”? Maybe they translated the title inot another english title… they do that sometimes here… “Next of Kin” became “Dirty Fighting”. Ayway…
That and Bad Taste, also by Jackson, are very gory but they are both comedies. If you want gory/sick/horrible I would say that the two that come to mind are “Cannibal Holocaust” and “Men Behind The Sun”. Not so much buckets-of-blood but horrible disgusting effects (both have been accused of being ‘snuff’ movies). Cannibal Holocaust is a faked documentary set in the amazon forest, Men Behind the Sun takes place in a Japanese war camp in China.
some of the MONDO CANE videos are kinda disturbing if not particularly gory
what’s the name of the Japanese film- THE DEVIL’S EXPERIMENT (?) that shows a woman being slowly torture-killed? Charlie Sheen supposedly saw it & called the FBI (it was all just special effects tho)
Guinea Pig:Flower of Flesh and Blood is the movie that made Charlie call the FBI. Nothing but about an hour of very realistic torture of a woman. Sick, sick, sick (though I’ve only seen part of it).
There’s actually a whole series of Guinea Pig movies though, but I haven’t seen any others.
Heh soon as I saw the thread title I was about to post “Ricky-Oh The Story of Ricky” oh well.
I second Dead Alive for the gore level but I dont think its that great of a film.
A pretty gruesome movie would be Ichi The Killer which has just been released on DVD. Its about this mentally-ill guy who’s being exploited to kill people. Its in Japanese, excessively gory and there’s some serious state of the art visual fx in it. Reccomended.
Obviously you should see Kill Bill if you haven’t already.
For the record, yes, I’ve seen both Bad Taste (not gory enough, actually it’s quite tame) and Braindead (aka. Dead-Alive). Braindead had the title change because of the movie Brain Dead which dantheman brought up. I am searching for Itchi the Killer, but I’m trying to avoid paying an arm and a leg because it might be rubbish.
Pieces sounds awesomely offensive but more of a slasher than a buckets of blood flick, but it’ll warrent a check-out.
I have not seen Guinea Pig but it’d be interesting just for how good the special effects would have to be to fool someone (I’m into special effects).
Deadline looks to require all my snooping skills to attain a copy of.
I’ve heard of Cannibal whatchamacallit and Men Behind the Sun and I will have to see it, if just to better understand the history of trash and see some euro-horror.
And before anyone requests it, please don’t reccomend that piece of shit, Violent Shit. Even a gorehound has standards.
