So, Phaedrus, you’ve popped up again. I’ve been wondering where you were through all this hullabaloo, given that you were SO worked up about Straight Dopers visiting the Left Behind board.
I’ll ask a direct question and see if you can give a direct answer: Were you the one who informed the LBMB about the visits by Straight Dopers?

I daresay our admins were responding to a thread that seemed much like the BibleQuoteSpam threads we were inundated with. I have seen no admin object to any reasonable newbie; you are just being disingenous anyway. Even if the admins did object, their hand is not on my jesses (as it seems to be for the LBMB crew) and I will be gracious towards newbies in proportion to their manner.

I know that you personally have not been greeted here with love and affection. Your posts are an interesting combination of wisdom, experience and 4-year-old ranting, and I’m not sure who the real you is.
Cactus Rose: I know my actions from a vantage point that is more accurate than any poster here. I not only admit my failings and shortcomings I accept the consequences for them. I take personal responsibility for them. Still, I am not alone in wishing the others would go away. I thought that was part of Melin’s OP. If it wasn’t I misunderstood. I don’t want them here, however benign they may seem it is a risk I am unwilling to take. I think that the bulk of their actions as a whole speak louder than any individual post that they made.
I like (love) THIS board and no matter what other board I went to, their would be some that wouldn’t like me. I think that to expect to find an entire board where you are liked is a virtual impossibility. I do not doubt that there are some who would wish I would leave. I have no intention of EVER leaving! There are too too many that I would miss way too much.
My postings have changed radically after my “old man” persona was dropped and many respect me and like me now. I have received forwarded e-mails from the admins here with people that what to get to know me better, will be trading music compositions with members here via e-mail, and have had people post publicly that they like me, would rather have dinner with me than “tons of people” they knew, and have had many defend my view points. To me this says a lot about how many people feel about me here in a positive way.

And yet, the LBMB banned 3,000 potential visitors for the actions of fewer than 15–none of whom had actually violated a board rule.
I’m not going to ignore new people and I’m not going to perform a “Do you post at LBMB?” query on each new person who shows up. The actual trolls (Roxy, Archangel, and a couple others) have gone home. I suspect that Vic_Rose will either get bored or go back to class soon. Any others who want to engage in discussion are welcome, from my perspective.
(Remember, our [sarcasm] fiercest shock troops [/sarcasm] were weary to the bone and had already left or were leaving before the “alert” was given to the LBMB and this useless ruckus was fired up. No one who chants mindless phrases in the manner of their worst posters would have the stamina to stay here. Serious discussion will come only from serious people and they are welcome.)

Laudable, Tom. Still, I know these people (fundies), I have had associations with them for over twenty five years. I will stick to my guns on this. I say, with others, ignore them.
If they wish acceptance I would advise them to wait a week till things cool down. If they can’t do that they have no self-control and to me that is indicative of their nature, which is one I find ugly and far from the Christ they “claim” to serve.

BTW, everyone, while the LBBB has temporarily suspended new registration privileges, they will eventually have to begin allowing new membership. In his typical reactionary manner, the LBBB admin has notified that board of this, and warned them to expect “retaliation” from this board when the begin allowing new members again. How childish! I suspect that Mr. Bagnall, if that is his name, is glorying in this opportunity to play ‘Christian Soldier’, and is secretly hoping that the so-called ‘war’ will continue. He also stated that he refuses to read this board because of the nasty things being said about him (imagine!). I was rather hoping he would realize how badly he handled the whole affair and return here to issue an apology in the true Christian manner, as David has done (even though David isn’t a Christian). (David’s apology was forwarded to the LBBB, BTW.) I suspect that Mr. Bagnall is too embarrassed.
I hope that everyone who was offended and annoyed by the behavior of some of the LBBB members will refrain from baiting Mr. Bagnall further, although I must admit the temptation is strong because it appears to be so easy to get his goat.
I think the real problem was that many of the LBBBers got their feelings hurt when they saw that they were being snickered at behind their backs. And those who had engaged in genuine debate with the SDMBers felt that they had been ‘had’, in that they assumed that the debaters had not been sincere.
However, none of the outrage and hurt feelings would have even occurred if someone from this board had not taken it upon themselves to ‘tattle’. IMO, this person is the instigator of the entire debacle. It is impossible to know, with certainty, who this person was, unless Mr. Bagnall cares to the source of his information.
I strongly suspect Phaedrus was the ‘tattler’. I cannot prove this, but reading the posts leading up to the appearance of the LBBB admin here on the board, Phaedrus’s sudden reversal of attitude (he was complaining about the SDMBers actions until all hell broke loose, now is suddenly criticizing the ‘fundies’ and wanting us to ignore 'newbies), and his failure to deny that he did it, to the point of ignoring a direct question, all make him suspect in my book.
Therefore, unless something further comes to light to change my mind, I, personally, am sending Phaedrus to the famed ‘Coventry’(although I may start a thread about this in the BBQ Pit).

I am here with the intent of sincere and honest debate only. Yet, I am being told that my desire for this is a lack of self-control. I see no reason to wait to draw from some of the wisdom I see here. It is usually obvious from someone’s post whether or not they are here to sincerely debate or just to do some BQS (biblequotespam). Once again, please do not judge me anyone else who has decided to stay.
I am here against the advice of many from my home board, including and administrator. They say that it would be hopeless and foolish to try to talk with you. That you are only interested in pride and ad hominenem, attacks. Which, by the way, I find very interesting as I believe it was someone from here who posted on the LBBB that ad hominem attacks are what people use when they have no answer to sincere questions in a debate… interesting.
Anywho, thank you to those of you who have welcomed me. I am looking forward to the chance to talk with some people that I miss over there and hopefully meet some more. To those of you who feel I am a troll and a fundie- I still love you and hope that through what I say here your minds will be changed and you will see my sincere attempts here.

coosa: There is one thing that is impossible to do while anyone is posting here. Escape judgement. I wonder how you explain away the culpability that posters (including our Moderator) and our administration assign to our posters that participated in the actions of that thread.

How ironic that it was the actions of the members of THIS board that started the whole thing.
As for my part?
I will be condemned by people who chose to do so whatever the facts of the case may be. If I say, yes I did it (whatever IT is), I will be condemned, if I say, no, I didn’t do it, I will be condemned either by being accused of lying or some other infraction. If I do not answer, people like you will assign the blame to me, and probably to me alone. However, our administration, our moderator, and yes, members here have admitted guilt, no doubt THAT means nothing to you.
