Best line I’ve seen on Twitter:;
“When my grandma goes to the theater she just hands out Werther’s.”

It used to be (among the Republicans) that there was some kind of ruling class, and that the people had to vote for one of them. Then Trump came along and told them they didn’t have to vote for one of the elites. They could vote for one of their own instead. That’s what happened.
Yes, ideally that’s actually how democracy is supposed to work. The problem is the reason they selected her is because they are full of hate and they want to be represented by an actual hater rather than someone just pretending to be a hater. I fully understand why people want to elect someone like themselves. What I don’t get is why they are so full of hate.
My favorite part of her apology is the explanation for not initially acknowledging the vaping.
Translation: I got so flustered being in public that I didn’t know how to conduct myself.
It’s a wonder she didn’t pee in the corner.
I didn’t see this upthread via a keyword search. It seems there was … um … adult-oriented contact between Ms. Boebert and her companion midst all the other tomfoolery (NSFW):
Stay classy.
Hey, she paid good money for those boobs. It’s only polite to squeeze ‘em.
And her reaching in between his legs…first people get upset that she was dancing in her chair, and now people get upset that she kept her hands down low. Make up your mind, people.
Sheesh.
She is undermining any thoughts I ever entertained about populism.
And if Ted Bundy was a driving instructor on the side, his lack of signaling would come up in these discussions even if it had no impact on anything. I don’t think anyone would have thought much of her having a child out of wedlock if she wasn’t explicitly trying to bring more religion into government.
Would it be fair of us to question her character if it was shown that she had an abortion?
Well I guess this one way of staying in the public’s eye ! The lord only knows she’s tried everything else! The question remains can the Hussy MTG from Georgia one up her?
Not quite everything.:
In terms of the op, she repeats maga talking points, guys think she’s hot, women find her relatable.
However, what she (and Santos) have likely shown is that – incredibly – you can be too embarrassing even for MAGA. I think she’s been haemorraging support since day one, hence the (half) apology.
What’s the new environment? A play? She hasn’t been to a play before? Possible I guess. But someone who wants to be (actually is) a Member of Congress, you’d think she would know how to act in public. Maybe she learned her manners from MTG.
Partly because they have been played by the “overclass” with that story for so long. So by now there’s whole generations raised under the kayfabe who are convinced it is true.
From that story:
I don’t think she understands how the internet works, if she thinks people watching her streaming open to the public is a violation of her privacy.
That’s the point of the most virulent strain of MAGA: that’s exactly how her constituents would act in public, and they voted her in because she’s one of them. They want their representative to act like them, not like a politician.
Acting different in public is fake, don’tcha know? It’s insider behavior, stuff you do if you’re part of the system instead of sticking it to the system.
Very well said!
Lord, and her attorney is trying to claim the Republicans are the ones not only in the wrong but criminally in the wrong for disseminating “revenge porn”. She had an account on Chaturbate where she and her husband broadcast themselves live having sex to the entire internet. Good luck with that lawsuit, which I’ll just note he hasn’t actually even filed, just yapped to the press about. Something something sanctions for filing lawsuits frivolous on their face.
American has a long way to go overcoming its collective sexual repression. Italy was electing porn stars in the 1980s.
As long as the GOP is still supporting Matt Gaetz (and avowed Nazis!) they haven’t got a leg to stand on. But I do honestly wish both sides would do their due diligence BEFORE putting forth a candidate. The level of sleaze in USA elections is becoming tedious. And as a Virginia Democrat, I find this embarrassing.
As for Boebert, I’ve said from the beginning she was the new Sarah Palin. I don’t see how anybody can miss the comparison.
When comparing the two, I miss the old version of Palin. I miss the old version of the GOP when some of the more out there members were people like Christine “I’m not a witch” O’Donnell. O’Donnell actually spoke out against Trump in 2016 saying she didn’t understand why Evangelicals supported him. Even she saw through Trump.
FWIW, Bernie Sanders did too, but he wasn’t a deadbeat dad.
I have described Marjorie Taylor Greene as the GG Allin of Congresspeople. Don’t Google him on a work or public computer.
Part of the matter here is that as mentioned,
And the parties, in the effort to be seen as making it be so, ended up divesting themselves of any real power to “stop” the “wrong candidate” from getting in. Oh, sure there’s the Dem “superdelegates” for their Presidential contest, but other than that it’s “come one come all, up to yourselves to keep one another honest”. And often this leads to situations like those of Boebert where…
…where their same-party competitors won’t play hardball because they expect to harvest those voters when the other guy/gal “inevitably fails” (see also Trump himself vs. the Republicans in 2016).
