When SC&P was absorbed into McCann Erickson, how much was Joan worth? A million dollars or half a million?
When she left after bad blood with Hobart, he offered to pay her 50 cents on the dollar to never see her face again.
So how much did she leave with, half a million dollars or a quarter million?
Completely from memory… her share was worth one million at maturity (in four more years?), $500k at the moment of the story, and she took the buyout for half that.
According to this account, Joan’s stake was worth a half million, and she took $250,00 to walk away.
However, SC&P had already sold a 51% stake to McCann, so maybe Joan had already collected the other $500,000 of the million dollars that her 5% was supposedly worth.
