Please help me remember the name of an animated futuristic cop show from the late 80s

It was on in the morning just after **The Real Ghostbusters.

It was animated in a strange style, very much like Aeon Flux would be years later on Liquid Television. It was a police department far in the future fighting organized crime but it was the way it was drawn that stood out.

I can’t help at all with the title because at this point it’d be just false memories.

C.O.P.S

Wow, I just amazed myself with my own memory. I don’t think I’ve thought of that show since the late 80’s.

I’m going to guess Phantom 2040. In addition to the Phantom, there were police and the style was (I think) similar to Aeon Flux.

C.O.P.S.–Fighting Crime In A Future Time™

Leader was a black FBI agent, code named Bulletproof.

Cute little computer tech girl named Mainframe.

This sound familiar, Sitnam?

Quicksilver? AKA Thundercats in Space?

Inspector Gadget?

That’s pretty much the opposite of Aeon Flux in design - COPS drew everyone broad, Aeon Flux draws everyone scrawny and spindly.

I’ll concur with 3acresandatruck - Phantom 2040, despite being from the mid-90s much better matches the OPs description.

Here’s the Phantom 2040 OP on YouTube. The guy at 23 seconds is a good example. There’s also an Aeon Flux clip in the related videos box so you can compare.

Skimming through the Phantom 2040 wiki though, it doesn’t appeared to have future cops fighting organized crime as a major plot element. Also Phantom doesn’t overlap the run of the Ghostbusters cartoon while C.O.P.S. did.

Your right the body design isn’t similar to those in Aeon Flux, but the general look of weird mutants chasing after each other through futuristic city-scapes is gives it a similar style.

Guess we’ll see what Sitnam thinks.

I thought Phantom 2040 was great.

Some good points there, and as Tengu pointed out, Phantom 2040 came out in '94, not the late '80s. On the other hand :D, Phantom 2040 was released in syndication and The Real Ghostbusters was in syndication at that time, so it would be possible for them to run next to each other…but in the 90’s. Concerning the plot points, the Phantom was fighting the forces of an evil corporation (sort of like organized crime) and a big fat crime boss, and the Phantom’s girlfriend was a cop. That’s about all I got…

What if we’re both wrong?!? Gadzooks!!

Spiral Zone?

Centurions?

I’m just enjoying the youtube links to old 80’s cartoons I haven’t thought about since they were on. I have vague recollections of most of them.

Though man, I musta watched a ton of TV back then.

That’s it, thank you.

You gotta remember, this is my 10 year old brain we’re talking about here. Lots o’ beer and Jager shots between then and now.

Centurions were drawn relatively realistically… and they weren’t cops.

Oh man, the Wikipedia page for Bulletproof, the lead guy from C.O.P.S. is hilarious:

I knew it was a long shot but stuff from when you were a kid can get garbled.

Time to edit my resume

I think you mean Silverhawks. Quicksilver was just one of the characters.
