So about a month ago I went to throw away some toner cartridges in the work dumpster. I opened the lid and up popped a kitten head. She quickly buried herself in the dumpster, making it impossible for me to get her. I could tell something was wrong with her right eye, but couldn’t tell what. Since she was feral, I sort of let it go.
I go back to the dumpster three days later and THERE SHE IS AGAIN! My mom and I tried to go through the dumpster to catch her, but she jumped out and ran into the woods. I get very upset and call my FABULOUS veterinarian and ask if they have an animal trap that I could borrow. YES, they do! It’s one of the last things my vet’s dad gave him before he died, so I have to be extremely careful with it. So I set the trap up behind the dumpster with a can of wet food. It was supposed to be extremely cold that night AND it was supposed to pour the next day, so I was pretty stressed.
One of our vendors flew in to take Mom and I out that night so we went to dinner. When we were done saying our goodbyes I drove back to the office to check the trap. I GOT HER!!!
So my parents live close to the office and the vet (I live 30 minutes south) so I take the kitten in the trap to my parents and set her up with a towel, food and water in the cage and put her inside my parent’s garage where it would be warm. My mom took the kitten to the vet for me the next day (since I was off and 30 minutes south of there).
Vet calls me and says she’s FIV and FELV neg. The eye isn’t salvageable, but looks like it doesn’t need surgery, but it is infected. My husband and I already have two rescue cats, one elderly rescue dog and a young Electus Parrot, so I ask the vet if he will adopt the kitten out for me. He says he will, but that I need to foster her while she gets better before he can adopt her out.
Long story short, our 2 year old rescue boy cat has fallen madly in love with the kitten. They play all day and night and we can’t bear to seperate them now. So we hadn’t named her in an attempt to not get attached, but now we would like to name her before she goes in for her spay and surgery on her eye (at the same time). There’s too much tissue left in her eye and it stays infected, so it has to be operated on.
So please help us name our playful one eyed kitten! Our other pet names are St. Peter the Patron Saint of Chaos {PETEY}, Kitty <my last name here>, and Paget (the English Springer Spaniel). Her buddy is Petey.
