I'm getting a new kitten! And she needs a name that means "Survivor"

I have a friend who, together with her husband, are even bigger animal lovers than I am. In fact, they brought me my latest cat, Six, who is gorgeous and sweet and second-in-command around here cat-wise. (I don’t have 6 cats, btw, although at the time she was accurately named.)
Today her husband, who works either on a trash truck or in a landfill (or something similar) was loading trash into a compactor when he heard suspicious noises. He investigated, tore into a sealed garbage bag, and found a 4 month old calico kitten.
Being an angel, he drove her around in his truck all day (of course he carries cat food! and dog food, and a blend each for racoons, possums, and deer!) while his wife made calls–or A call, at least, because guess who’s getting a new kitty!!!
She’s at the vet’s office now, and although she’s in good health she will have to have an eye removed due to either abuse or inury. She’ll have surgery Monday morning and come home on Tuesday. My sweet friend is paying for it until I can pay her back (hopefully in December.)
I’m going to meet her tomorrow. Haven’t thought of a name yet, but something pirate-y or survivor-ish seems appropriate, don’t you think?

How about Immaculee ? After Immaculee Ilibagiza, survivor of the Rwandan genocide. Her story, “Left to Tell” was one of the most harrowing, intense stories of survival I’ve ever read.

Rocky! And you can sing Eye of the Tiger whenever she enters the room.

We had a one-eyed cat several years ago named Duncan, after Sandy Duncan. You could go with Sandy.

Gloria, as in Gloria Gaynor, as in “Eye Will Survive.”

Alternatively, you could call it iCat, because it only has one i. Or, how about Leela?

Zosime is an Ancient Greek name that means ‘likely to survive’, and I think it’s very pretty.

Jesus H. Christ, people can be assholes.

“Survivor” isn’t good enough?

No kidding - I don’t know what is the matter with people, that they can do things like that.

The word “survivor” in some other languages -
Perhe - Finnish
Sobrevivente - Galician
Sivivan - Haitian creole
Tulelo - Hungarian
Selamat - Indonesian
Marthanoiri - Irish
Sopravvissuto - Italian
Druzinska - Slovenian
Overlevande - Swedish

I like “Tulelo” or “Selamat” - nice, rhythmic names.

I’d complain that you forgot the rules…but I can’t get my phone to talk to my comp either.

I get a lot of kittens from dumpsters. I really wish I could get the mama cats as well. My current ones are Alpha, Baker and Charlie.

Somehow, my really lucky cats just end being called Lucky. I’m so lame with names, so I can’t help there.

I just chimed in to say how wonderful I think your friends and you are. Big hugs!!! Thank you so much for taking in this kitty. The world needs more people like you and your friends.

How about Odin? He had only one eye. Or Cyclops?
One Eyed Willy? You know, from Goonies?

Just call her Arrrrrrrrr! like a pirate!

Zombie!
So…where are the pictures?

Rasputin?

Talleyrand?

Crusoe?

euhm…Schrödingers

Kia kaha is a Maori phrase which roughly translates to ‘be strong’ or ‘stay strong’.
