Please! PLEASE someone, release these DVD!!

Continuing off topic, Equipoise is also the name of a famous racehorse, and a really useless Magic: The Gathering card…

Well, goboy, I’m glad some queen managed to get to these:D! (and you think you’re so butch…):stuck_out_tongue:

Also waiting for Hairspray, although I remember reading “somewhere” that a three-disc All John Waters, All The Time set will be coming later this year (Hairspray, Pink Flamingos and Polyester). I trust there’ll be director commentary…(and they damn well better have Odorama cards).

I’d love to see some of the Marx Brothers come out, especially A Night at the Opera. What’s great about DVD is being able to program-repeat one scene - I’m planning a cocktail party (in my 425sf apartment) and somehow a continuous loop of the stateroom scene seems appropriate.

And will the Japanese camp classic “Black Lizard” (Kurotokage) ever make it on to DVD? Sigh. I’ve been waiting for years just in the hopes of finding a video.

I’ll add one to my list (way up at the top of the thread)…

The Muppet Movie

Forest Gump and another vote for The Indiana Jones Trilogy.

Speaking of the Muppets - I want the whole Muppet Show series to be on DVD. In order. Complete and uncut, with any kind of behind the scenes clips they can jam in there. Plus a copy of the Out Of Print ‘Of Muppets and Men’ book.

Please.

The complete MacGuyver TV series.

In addition to The High and the Mighty, which rat-bastard Batjack Productions refuses to release, I wish that To Have and Have Not would be released on DVD.

Strange Brew! And for extras, maybe those Molson commercials or some SCTV stuff with Bob and Doug.

Major props to Rhino for bringing me Transformers: The Movie on DVD.

Wow, I should post more things like this every day.

The Digital Bits announced this will be out in June! Whoo!

Movin’ right along,

Montfort

Well, we’re not going to get 11 hours, but this is still pretty great! This comes from http://www.thedigitalbits.com/

(EARLY UPDATE - 3/2/01 - 11 AM PST)

We’ve heard from studio sources that Wim Wenders’ classic Wings of Desire is also slated for DVD release in the 4th Qtr of this year (from MGM). Weren’t we just talking about that? Ask and ye shall learn. Also, one of our readers sent in this report on Wenders (thanks David!):

“I had the good fortune to speak with Wim Wenders this past weekend (he was the keynote speaker at a conference my company held). While Wenders didn’t give me any dates, he did say he had just spent a lot of time working on HD transfers of most of his films (he screened a newly printed 4 1/2 hour director’s cut of Until The End Of The World which looked gorgeous) and that DVD’s were forthcoming.”

Thanks to Montfort for the tip about The Digital Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/) and to silent_rob for the tip about IGN Coming Soon DVD’s: The Year Ahead (http://dvd.ign.com/). It took me a while to get my butt in gear to check them out, but they’re bookmarked now, and they’ve made me veeeery happy.

They also say that Once Upon A Time in the West is on its way. That’s an important one I forgot to list. Wheee!!

Oh my dear god. Finally a reason to buy a DVD player. How come none of the conferences at companies I work for have screenings of the director’s cut of Until the End of the World? I’m living the wrong life.

Thanks for the information, Equipoise! (And Montfort too) You made my day! Now I don’t even care about the parking ticket.

A lovely scene from my favorite movie:

“You know the bank robbery at Nice?”
“No.”
“The guys who did it crashed into your car. I gave them a ride to the next town, and they asked me to take the money up to Paris.”
“We’ll call the police.”
“No, Jean… I don’t want to. 30% of this is mine. Oh no… my hitch-hiker robbed me!”
“Your hitch-hiker? Well, he left an I.O.U…”
“I trusted him.”
“Sure, and then he robbed you.”

-fh, happy as a clam

Add Bob Fosse’s All That Jazz to the list.

Now if they would just freaking bring “The Muppet Movie” soundtrack back in print on CD…I am not paying $75 on eBay!

#1 want is…

The Thin Man series (in a nice clean restored edition)

and after that in no particular order…

To Catch A Thief
Bad Company (1972, Jeff Bridges)
Cotton Comes To Harlem, (widescreen this time please)
My Name Is Nobody
Hot Millions

and I definitely second Stunt Man, Hamlet and Buckaroo Banzai.

but goboy, Forbidden Planet is out on DVD, it’s even anamorphic. Or did you mean Fantastic Planet?

I’d love to re-nominate TOP SECRET. In the special-features section, they should run the bookstore scene forward. For those that haven’t seen the film, there’s a 90+ second scene that was acted, filmed, and edited into the movie that was shot in reverse.

The TOP SECRET dvd should also include English subtitles for the German and Latin phrases in the film. I actually recruited a German-fluent friend of mine to translate the dialog for me once. Didn’t work. The bastard was laughing too hard to speak.

And the Muppet Show DVD is an excellent idea! I’d buy that in a minute.
