Please suggest TV or films I would like

My nephew recently gave me a subscription to Disney+ - what a pleasant chap.

And there is a lot of choice. :sunglasses:

So please do suggest Disney+ programmes I might like. (I am retired and staying at home to be safe, so have plenty of time to watch.)
I am in the UK, so already have easy access to all BBC stuff like Dr. Who and Sherlock etc.)
I like well-written stuff about science fiction; fantasy; crime, documentaries and comedy.

I have already seen and enjoyed:

  • the Marvel Universe (I’ve seen Winter Soldier + Falcon; WandVision and Loki and know what is coming)
  • The West Wing
  • CSI
  • Big Bang Theory
  • How I met your mother
  • Elementary
  • The Mandalorian
  • Star Wars (though the last one disappointed me )
  • Star Trek film reboot

Thanks in advance.

I know these are for kids, but they’re actually a lot better than you might expect:

  • The Secret of Sulphur Springs
  • The Mysterious Benedict Society
  • DuckTales
  • Monsters At Work
  • Dug Days
  • The Owl House

I would suggest Brain Games. It’s especially fun if you’re watching it with a diverse group in age or gender.

It’s still fun to watch by yourself though.

That said, the last couple of seasons they jumped the shark and turned it into a game show basically. So sad.

I’ll second The Mysterious Benedict Society and Monsters at Work (haven’t seen the others).

I’m not entirely sure whether your Disney Plus catalogue is the same as on the continent, and whether it includes Star as it does over here. But here are some that I’ve watched there and enjoyed (our tastes seem to be similar):

  • The Orville (watching that right now, very Star Trekky).
  • Gravity Falls (for kids but also fun for adults)
  • Agents of SHIELD (This is the reason I signed up originally).
  • Runaways (I’m not sure about this, very much oriented at teens, but it was enjoyable to me).
  • Only Murders in the Building (just started, weekly eps).

Regarding films:
I watched Sky HIgh which is a fun teen superhero movie, also enjoyable for adults.

These two were both really good. I was surprised by how good as I never liked Disney channel stuff.

Sulphur Springs has a 80s movie feel to it, somewhat like how Stranger Things captured that feel.

The Mysterious Benedict Society was fun and took place in a world that could contain Pushing Daisies or Edward Scissorhands. The cast was excellent.

If you liked it, The Muppet Show is on Disney+. Fun to watch some of them.

Dug Days: There are 5 shorts or so with Doug the Dog from Up!. Some of Ed Asner’s final work.

All of the Pixar Shorts that were only on DVDs or at the movies can be found in the Pixar section. These run from good to great.

Also if you are into crime/procedurals with a bit of comedy:

  • Castle
  • Bones

Fo comedies:

  • Scrubs
  • New Girl

You didn’t mention Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: if you haven’t seen them, you might like these as well.
(again am not sure what’s in the UK catalogue).

The reason we signed up for Disney+ was for Hamilton. I was surprised how much they had that I was interested in. I figured it would just be a bunch of Disney and other kid-oriented stuff.

I also signed up for Disney+ to watch Hamilton but unlike you, I didn’t find much that interested me. On the other hand, I am finding lots of stuff I want to watch on Hulu.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

It really helps to know where to start looking.

I have watched ‘Buffy’, but I think ‘Angel’ might come first…
