Okay, I’ve looked all over this site, and I can’t find the “Hey, this is just a joke” part of it. Someone please tell me I’m just missing something!
Wow, weird. Well, my mom was always offering to rent myself and the boy out to childless couples for a few weeks…I guess this is similar…
What’s missing is no explanation of why one person would want to rent another person’s daughter.
It’s a pretty sparse site and certainly seems to be a parody, although there’s no clear indication of why someone would do that. In the “client comments” section they mention: boy wants to go to dance but can’t get a date and employee wants to impress female coworker at company picnic so claims to have brought his niece.
That office they list as their address is actually the Alcohol Beverage Control office for the state of California. Definitely satire.
Another tipoff is that the “Make Reservation” links lead back to the top level of the site. Well done satire, though.
And hilarious! Thanks for the link, ArrMatey!
You must be very good with directions, belladonna.
It’s probably a pedophile trap, placed by law enforcement officers.
If that were true, there’d likely be a more upfront way for them to see who was looking at the kids. As sewalk pointed out, trying to make a “reservation” just sends you on an endless loop through the site. Not very good for information-gathering purposes.
etmiller–I wish! I just googled it. :hangs head in shame:
This is the best way to tell if a supposedly commercial site is a spoof. Bonsai Kittens, Manbeef, etc. purport to sell a product, but there turns out to be no way to order anything. Most readers, disgusted by the site, wouldn’t dream of looking for, much less clicking on, an “Order Here!” button, so they don’t discover this important detail.
To be honest, I didn’t actually click on the link, I just noticed the URL tag in the status bar of my browser. It could have been a spoof, I didn’t check.
Well, I just went back and checked and some of the reservation links kick back to the main page and some go to an “enter your info and we’ll contact you later” page. Weird.
I always thought a “Rent 'em Kidz” business would be a great moneymaker around taxtime
Heck, the fact that they call themselves a “Certified Child Rental Agency” is a dead giveaway.
To me it looks like a demo or web-design exercise. Although the “trap for unsavoury characters” aspect of it crossed my mind.
this is a scary quote from there About us page
<snip>We pride ourselves in being a one-of-a-kind company with a **near-perfect track ** record. We are constantly evaluating our procedures to be sure we are offering a 100% safe environment for everyone involved.

talking about renting kids and advertising a Near Perfect record. This can’t be real, but I don’t get it.
Also note the promiscuous picture of a young girl in mini skirt and short top. WTF???
That’s not what I got. When I clicked on the make reservation/get quote link, I was sent to this page. You can register here.
Okay, I had to click on the reservation/quote link. And nothing happened - all the spam on the rt hand side flickered & that was it.
Except my computer was whirring and buzzing.
So I ran a lot of spyware.
