This was my first thought when I saw it being delivered.
The interview with VG and the writers does make it sound like an actual nuke, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a bit of misdirection. They didn’t actually say anything that precludes it being metaphorical, as in any weapon of mass destruction against the Pluribus. That could include radio parts, a faraday cage, or something we haven’t guessed.
The plurbs have never tried to trick people on technicalities. They gave her a real grenade when she asked. “Atom bomb” vs “nuclear weapon” is a meaningless distinction in terms of pop cultural entertainment. I don’t think Carol would know or the show wouldn’t expect the audience to know the difference between a fission and fusion weapon nor would it matter in terms of story.
If it’s not a nuclear weapon, then it’s Carol being metaphorical, not the plurbs tricking her with terminology.
What with the Others’ lawyerly ways and lies of omission and misleads, Carol opens the box to find only a man inside. She gets pissed and says, “I was supposed to get an atom bomb!” And the guy says, “Yes, Carol. We’ve given you exactly what you’ve asked for. This individual is Adam Baum.”
That’s probably a sign that the others have taken over management of the board. Since they know uploading images makes us happy, they enabled the feature. Be sure to upload lots of images as you wait for the delivery of your personalized insulated cooler.
When she was trying to figure out a game to play with Zosia that she wouldn’t be severely disadvantaged in, I wonder why Carol didn’t consider UNO. It’s as much luck as it is skill.
