Pointless, but intriguing

yellow drill

Really yellow and black drill. I like DeWalt tools

Same here, Blue Hammer. Then again, I own a blue hammer and just spend my Spring Break using it a lot in a construction project so it’s kind of fresh in my mind.

green screwdriver

My son and I just spent a half hour looking for a screwdriver.

Me too.

Red Hammer, too. So this is what normal looks like…
looks around, shrugs…

Burnt sienna crowbar.

Actually, I thought of a blue screwdriver.

In all honesty…“blue awl.”

My immediate reaction was “Venison Jesus” when reading the question. I guess it’s a color and a tool, who knows.

A blue mattock.

I was also a blue wrench.
I took this years ago, and remember that I didn’t answer the expected answer, then, either. I’ve always known my mind doesn’t work like other people’s (and often it doesn’t work at all or so it seems…).

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a red hammer–unless we are talking about the handle. I wonder why Red Hammer is so common? Is there something about the cadence or the syllables etc that leads people to think of that? It’s fun to know that this happens, but why does it? Anyone have any ideas?

Orange …

I can explain the orange part. I work for Home Depot. I just got home from work. I spent my whole day looking at the color orange. But, all the tools which are marked down for store use are spray painted orange. As soon as I thought of the color, I couldn’t pinpoint a tool because to me, they’re all orange.

Orange spanner here. I already knew that I was a freak though.

Seriously, I know us dopers are a weird bunch, but that 98% figure strikes me as being a little bit full of it. Maybe more people say ‘red hammer’ than you’d think, but… yeah, I’m suspicious.

Green drill.

I like Bosch.

I agree - 98% seems a like a number somebody pulled out of their arse to signify ‘much more’ and 2% to signify ‘much less’.

Heh, I had a red one.

Blue screwdriver here. Now I really am wondering why most people would answer Red Hammer?!

Inquiring minds want to know!

Blue screwdriver.

Green Wrench

Red screwdriver.

I bet that if they just asked you to name a color and a tool without all the math crap the answers would be the same.

White ex-husband. :dubious:

My sister! I said the same thing.
