The re-buy is one thing but the T7000 add on is a major consideration.
I would never play this game for $40 and give up the T7000 for $10. I used to think there was a case for buying in with $20 and trying to cash without any rebuys (and there is) but my style isn’t to move that fast so now I simply consider this a $50 game.
I have not found any live games that don’t have rebuy/add-ons because it increases the money and allows players a “second chance”. It’s fairly standard in my area to have one rebuy and one add-on so I’m used to that structure but would not play in any unlimited rebuy games it’s far too wild. An add on for 3x the chips at 1/2 price seems funky but it looks like they want to boost the payouts.
My advice is to consider this a $50 game next time and you can no longer just coast to the final table when stacks could range from T200 to T11000 + in the first hour alone. Playing tight and coasting in would be a viable strategy at the 8 man table where everybody had T2000 but now if anybody does the rebuy/add-on it’s going to take a lot more work.
I was not aware that that is not poker etiquette. I will make a note for next time.
It seems that you are correct Otto in that I put too much weight in to the suitedness. I definitely thought the flush had possibilities.
You guys are making this hand far too painfully clear that I miscalculated
I set this out wrong. I was the small blind.
1-raise (this was the guy who put me out)
2 (button)- call
3 (me) – all-in
4 (BB) – fold
1 – call
2 (button) – fold
Sorry for the error although I don’t think it changes much. I should not have moved all in with my A-7s against what I correctly read as a mid-pocket air.
Thanks again. I had a blast.
I can only speak to my personal feelings as opposed to “poker etiquette” but I would object to any chips changing hands outside of a pot.
The chance of making a flush by the river is 6.4%. Unless you’re playing against me and I have pocket Kings, in which case your chances are approximately 100%. And I’m not just saying that because I got busted out of two single table tournaments today holding pocket KK against suited cards. Really.
Anyways, my bitterness aside, glad again to hear you had fun and I hope you’ll keep playing and enjoying yourself.
