Poll: Gas Prices Might Jump $0.05 Tomorrow!

Maybe they called the supplier and found out what the new shipment is going to cost.

Sorry about the double post. The first hung for 14 (!) minutes, then said “Server not available.”

There’s a website I’ve found (I’m not affiliated with it) that lets people enter in prices for various metro area gas stations, and it seems to cover a lot of cities in the U.S. Locally, the site is http://www.stlouisgasprices.com - and by the way, I’ll stop bitching to myself about gas being $1.55 now and say I’ve got it lucky.

It went down two cents today at the station in Greenville NC where I was filling up (From $1.65 to $1.63/gal).

I think I just laughed out loud for the first time today - thank you!

$1.60 or thereabouts in Dallas, TX.

[hijack] Oviedo? As in Florida?

You’re right by my in-laws! E-mail me when you get a sec…I want to know how things are going with your boy. [/hijack]

Americans should pay $3.50 - $4.00/gal like the rest of the world. It would curtail all the gas-guzzling SUVs and all the tax money could be used to provide a decent public transit system. It is sad that Turkey has a better bus system than the US.

I agree with you, Trygve.

I realize it will suck for a lot of people, but I think that that sort of thing is the only way our transporation system will improve…because it has to.

big deal. When the camel-jockeys are done with us it’ll be up a fiver…

Time to look into other sources…

You can’t eat oil, you fucking rag-heads!!!

sorry, hadda get that off my chest…

I think the most significant problem with making a mass transit system work in the US has to do with the area you would have to cover to make it work out for people.

AND, if Americans pay less for gas than you do, maybe it’s because of the quantity of gas we buy.

Nope. It’s just taxes. In my state for example, there’s like a 37¢ tax on a gallon of gas. It’s several dollars per litre in other countries.

One politician who probably knows better is going to get at least himself some press out of the deal. From Energy Dept Asked to Probe Gasoline Price Rise:

The average price of gasoline in the U.S. 20 years ago was $1.28/gallon, in 20 years ago dollars. That would be ~$2.40 in today’s dollars. And we just hit a record high of $1.75? Egad!
