A local gas station owner in the Mid-Atlantic tells me that his prices will jump 5 cents tomorrow. I expect all other stations to follow suit. I want to poll fellow SDopers about today’s price per gallon vs. tomorrow’s price…just to see how if this jump is experienced locally, regionally, or nationally. - Jinx
You mean he’s promising to raise the price **only **5 cents?
Premium is already around $2.35 here, one of the highest prices in the USA. 5 cents won’t matter too much, but I see if they do it.
With all due respect, did you read the forum descriptions?
GQ is not really the proper place for polls.
But since we’re here, FWIW, prices have been dropping in my area.
Only five cents? And they gave you advance notice? Wow…
A gas station near me went up 4 cents one day, then up another three cents the next day.
General Questions is for questions with factual answers. IMHO is for opinions and polls.
Off to IMHO.

Pretty soon I won’t be able to afford to drive to work!
Gas here in Oviedo is $1.80 for Reg Unleaded.
I better gas up today at lunch to avoid the extra cost.
Thanks for the tip off
I’m paying 2 fucking dollars and eight goddamn cents for regular all-freakin-ready! I spent over $38 bucks to fill the killer road burner this morning!
How is Rap like Porn? Both are better with the sound turned off.
Given that it’s already gone up 23 cents (from 1.55 to 1.87) in the past 10 days, another nickel it is hardly surprising. However, the 12 cent increase between Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning last week was surprising. I wonder how long they’ll milk the power-outage as a reason for jacking up the prices…
Another vote for “Who’s gonna notice 5 cents?” I guess I’m pretty lucky only paying $1.68/gal., and I guess that’s the attitude the oil companies want.

CEO: “Hey, there’s a guy in PA who’s not completely outraged at what he’s paying for gas. What can we do about this?”
Kiss-ass employee: “Raise the price a nickel a gallon?”
CEO: “Great idea, Mr. Vice President of Domestic Operations!”

For comparison purposes: regular gas in Toronto is around CAD 0.80/litre, or USD 2.22/US gallon. Hmm. Not that bad, actually.
Yeah, it’s getting bad here. 77.5 cents/litre this morning and I have to buy premium! 87.5 cents a litre = $2.40 per gallon as of today’s exchange rate.
I’m glad I bought something fairly good on gas.
I just noticed today that the $1.37 regular of 3 weeks ago is now $1.71. It must be better gas.
It’s 2.07 to 2.38 here for regular.
It goes without saying that the 2.07 is in the very incredibly small minority.
You guys and gals should check and see if your city has a site like: http://ottawagasprices.com/
Any chance that the federal government will investigate to see whether there’s some price-fixing going on?
(Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! )
As a San Franciscan (and I’m sure all Californians did the same), I laughed when the headline of the USA Today boldly revealed
I’m thinking a hybrid would pay for itself in what, two months?
Sure it’ll go up 5 cents. I’ll bitch and moan, and then hand over my money though. Right now I’m paying between $2.12-$2.20. But, I’m also saving money. I only use a truck for work. I’ve been taking the bus to school (next town over). Its veerrrrry cheap.
It was up to about $1.76, then dropped to $1.64.
Why .05 tomorrow (actually today now)?
Dropped a Penny today, the big day it was supposed to rise 5 cents. BTW, they already have the gas, they paid for it, why would they need to raise the price 5 cents unless they got a new shipment.
I gotta laugh cause Calif has its own refineries operating just fine but they blame those in AZ.
