Poll: How old are you

Brand-new poster, harvesting data. That’s a solid, “yeah, nope” from me.

Hey, I’m still waiting on my tote bag.

I was 39 when I joined, a relative whippersnapper. Curiously, 24 years later and I’m still in my early 40s.

I felt like an absolute baby at 22: so many people here were in their late 20s and early 30s. Now I’m 47. It blows my mind how consistent this place has been part of my routine the last 25 years.

I’ve spent nearly a quarter century here on this board. It’s definitely helped me twirl into the future. Me and my towel.

Who voted Under 13? They’re not supposed to be here…

And Towel Day is this week:

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.

As you seem to know where your towel is you must be a Hoopy Frood.

I saw on TV the Berlin Wall being erected.

I remember the Beatles releasing ‘Love me do’.

I watched the first ever episode of Doctor Who.

(get off my lawn!)

The age gap is certainly one of the main contributing reasons I rarely if ever post here. Out of touch is an understatement.

Out of touch with what?

LoL did you get them banned? Their vote disappeared

Edit: someone just added another under 13 right after I posted this comment to troll

The problem is I want good new music to come out, but being a rock and metal fan these days is pretty lonely. The genres I love just aren’t nearly as popular anymore and while good music is still being made, it’s harder to find.

I was going to start a geezerific Have You Heard Of This Once-Common Thing, Whippersnapper? poll (what’s a record player, why does the phone call icon look like that, etc.) for people under 30 until I suddenly realized there were virtually none here. The poll results above are even starker than I would have guessed.

For me, that’s not a problem, because there is so much great rock from the past 7 decades that I’m not familiar with, that I’m constantly encountering exciting new - to me - music. There is enough of a critical mass of music at my fingertips that I could probably live the rest of my life exploring existing music without ever getting past 1999. Why would I need new new music when there’s plenty of new old music out there?

I joined when I was 23. I had just gotten married.

I’m now 41 I think. I hang out here so I can feel young.

Um, and so I can benefit from the wisdom of the aged.

Dropo: problems with your image.

Best I could do, sorry.

I can see it

Was a wee lad of 26 when I joined, single, child free. An old grizzled man of 49 now, married, two teen kids.
