POLL: How was your vaccine reaction?

Just had my 1st shot yesterday afternoon. About 2 hours later, I had a bit of arm soreness - like someone had punched me. Now, less than 24 hours later, that feeling is subsiding. Just a little sore now when I lift something heavy.

ETA Pfizer if that makes a difference.

Day #2 update: I feel much better today (in fact, I felt much better by afternoon yesterday, after taking a nap) but the injection site is warm, sore, and a bit swollen. I’m not worried about it.

Got my first shot of Astra Zeneca the day before yesterday. My left arm was achy for much of the day following, and into the next day, but it’s fine now. I was very tired yesterday, but a catnap in the afternoon handled that, and I often nap in the afternoon anywa. Some of the nastiest side effects (thrombosis, for example), apparently won’t show up for a week or so after the shot, but I’m not worried, just aware.
I’d gotten a flu shot just over two weeks before, and the side effects were about the same.
Second shot at the end of July.

Odd. I doubt any pain with the actual shot varies with vaccine type; more likely it varies with who administers it and maybe just plain luck as to exactly where they jab it. I’m approaching two weeks now since my first Pfizer shot. The shot itself was barely noticeable. Had a slightly sore arm the next day, but not at the point of injection – lower down in the upper arm. No other noticeable side effects at all, and the sore arm was completely fine within 48 hours. If someone were to ask me to describe all the discomforts and side effects from beginning to end, the simplest answer would be “none”.

I’ll add two data points here: one for me, and one for my boyfriend. My boyfriend didn’t have much of a reaction to the first shot, aside from the sore arm. He got the second one yesterday and felt horrible – moaning all night long, woke up with a fever, chills and headache and all that jazz.

My reaction was more mild: fatigue, muscle soreness, chills, headache, but nothing to keep me up moaning at night, and no fever. It feels pretty identical to my reaction to the first shot. I think my immune system handled the second shot better because it already had a pretty significant response when I got the first shot.

Technically, I didn’t quite have a fever – my temperature was 98.6, but that’s high for me.

17 hours after my second dose of the Moderna vaccine.

So far, only pain at the injection site. Waiting to see what the day brings.

About an hour after my previous post, I started to feel tired. Later, I took a nap for about an hour. I still feel tired and drained. I’ll probably go to bed around 9:30 or so.

It did cross my mind that I might have actually contracted Covid, but I was too sick to do anything about it. I had all the symptoms except reduced senses of taste and smell. And I actually got sick too long after the shot for it to be a reaction. But at this point it doesn’t matter, though I am curious.

Oh, and my husband, who had his shots the same time as I did, had only the usual mild reaction.

I had pretty much the same response as Panache, and I did go get tested for Covid. It came back negative.

Yeah, me too to both of you. My reaction to the first vaccine was three weeks of being sick. It didn’t occur to me until week two to get a covid test, and it was negative. It seems there’s a set of people who get really bogged by the vaccine and just have a shitty time. I don’t know if that’s either of you - or me! - but it’s interesting to hear anecdotes lacking data. Thanks!

PS: I’m still bogged by the second dose (my first dose was the 3 weeks of ugh!) but much less so. I’m on day 6 and fatigued but basically okay.

I can now contribute to this thread! I got Pfizer, second shot last Friday.

Shot 1: very sore arm the day after, no other symptoms.
Shot 2: very sore arm starting much sooner (maybe an hour or two later). May have had very mild chills the night after (I had to get an additional blanket); the next day was fatigued and had muscle aches. Interestingly, I had fatigue mostly in the morning and muscle aches mostly in the afternoon. It wasn’t too bad at all, although I probably wouldn’t have been able to get very much work done if it had been a work day – about on par with a bad cold. By Sunday I felt a lot better. I don’t think I ever had a fever (but I didn’t check, not feeling feverish).

Messed it up. Jab #1 Pfizer was just a mildly sore arm. Jab #2 was a very sore arm and about 24 hours fatigue. However, I’d worked extra hours the previous days so I could be off work for any side effects and so some of the fatigue may just be from all that screen glare

Wife & I had our first shot of Pfizer 4/29. Both had a sore arm, felt a bit like a bone or deep tissue bruise for a couple of days. No impact to performing duties, but was aware of it most of the time. We’ll see what comes of the second shot 5/29.

Officially inducted into the Moderna Club on Friday. Injection site soreness lasted until last night. No other symptoms, but I did throw up on Friday during dinner, shortly after the vaccination. It was unrelated, though-- I smelled a cleaning product in the bathroom that triggered me.

Got my second BionTech/Pfizer shot five hours ago, and I feel foggy, tired, and my nose runs and itches. But nothing really bad so far.

I had my second shot on May 4th (8 days ago) and the next morning, I woke up with horrible body aches, no appetite, and a 101-degree fever. In short, I felt like I had been hit by a truck! Around noon, I took a short nap, and woke up feeling a lot better, although I had a sore knot at the injection site that took a few days to completely go away.

Am I glad I got it? You bet!

My brother-in-law (75 year old male) got the Moderna vaccine about a week ago. He has been “not feeling good” ever since. Yesterday he was taken to the ER and diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung.

As far as I can tell there have been no reports of the Moderna vaccine being associated with rare blood clots. Much more testing is underway.

Sis was scheduled for her shot today but she canceled it. (Comments regarding Trump, Republicans, statistics, etc. are not really helpful … she’s been at his bedside for over 24 hours.)

J&J. Stung a bit when it was being injected, but nothing afterward.

Moderna shot #1: Sore arm for about three days. Worse the day after the shot, then subsided.

Moderna shot #2: Body and joint aches the day after the shot. Felt too tired to do much but sleep throughout the day, and little to no appetite. Fully recovered by the end of the day. Arm was sore for another day.
