Poll: If you gotta drink it, Whats your favorite Beer?

Ah a thread that really has some importance!!!

Flying Dog Pale Ale

My current favorite now that my local bar has it on tap. Try the Tire Biter if you don’t like too strong of a beer, but the pale ale is so hoppy.

**Siera Nevad India Pale Ale **
Most bars will have this on tap so its a good backup.

Some other good ones, Rouge, Red Hook and if you can find it on tap Anchor Steam.

My favorite beer is the third beer. By then I am tipsy enough that I forget I hate beer and not so drunk that I am wishing I had never had the first one.

In previous beer threads, I have sung the praises of Bell’s Amber Ale, and do so here again. If you’re in the midwest, it’s well worth looking for. It’s too bad it’s not more widely available.

Oh, I forgot to mention… my husband only drinks Coor’s Light, and insists that it tastes good.
I don’t know what to do with him…

I like them strong and extra hoppy. Butte Creek Organic India Pale Ale is my favorite among beers that are availableyear-round. I lke most other IPA’s as well. Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’, Pyramd IPA, Otter Creek, and Widmer Spring Run are some other great ones.

Anything by Lagunitas is great too.

When I can get it, which is generally from October through January, nothing beats Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. That’s my all-time favorite beer. (And Pantellerite, eat your heart out: it was on special at my local store all winter for $5.99/6! :p)

I also can’t wait to try Sierra Nevada’s new IPA (different from their regular Pale Ale), which I haven’t seen available around here yet.

If i have to drink beer or beer type beverages I drink zoma or flavored cooler type of malts

At home ! drink fruit flavored st ides or 8-ball ect my friends call it ghetto kool-aid

Right now I’m going through aStone Brewing Co. phase. As far as I know, the only beers they have available in Northern California are Arrogant Bastard, Ruination Ale, and Stone IPA … all of them just oozing with hops.

Other long-time favorites: Lost Coast Indica Pale Ale, Anchor Steam, Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’ IPA, North Coast Old Rasputin, and Lagunitas Brown Shugga’…a pseudo-barleywine that my roommate describes as “God’s own pus.”

(At this point, mentioning beers like Newcastle, Guinness, and Sierra Nevada Pale seems redundant, but I do hold them all in the highest regard…)

I’m in a serious beer phase (a few months ago it was vodka) and I drink a lot of Newcastle, Bass, Harp and Guinness.

Other than that, I like the Frankenheim Alt (which looks kind of like a Heineken by the box, and is Alt, not Ale) but is a very tasty, malty beer and is quite dark. It’s a bit bitter out of the bottle but poured into a nice pint glass it’s almost sweet.

There is a brewpub here in Lawrence called Free State Brewery that makes some truly fantastic beer. Their Old Bacchus Barleywine is delicious as is their amber ale called Ad Astra.

Also locally, Boulevard Brewery (Kansas City) has finally put their Dry Stout into bottles (previously only available on tap) and that’s making me very very happy. They have a good pale, but I don’t like hoppy beer.

Fat Tire is always a beautful standby beer, especially when at a bar that only serves cheap domestics. They often have a few bottles of Fat Tire for the adventrous.

Oh, a drink with Harp on the bottom and Guinness on top is called a Half and Half. A cider on bottom Guinness on top is a Snakebite around here.

Nitpick: Alt is ale. Alt is German for “old”. Altbier is beer made in the old style, that is, before the discovery of lager yeasts. In other words, ale.

Impossible to pick just one! I’m a big ale fan. I really enjoy Sierra Nevada, Bass, Newcastle and the like. Another personal favorite is my special “BeeSkep Honey Ale”. Light in color and with a taste of honey, it’ll knock you down and blow your socks off!

I’m going home and having a few liters of homebrewed Maibock tonight, and racking a Sierra Nevada into secondary and dry-hopping the shit out of it! (No worky for me tommorrow! I’m going skiing in all the fresh!)

Bud, damnit!

Sheesh, do I ever feel like a McG fan at a Kurosawa film festival.

Yes, I have tried many, many different beers from all over the globe. Some were…ok. Most just tasted like swill to me. I’ve long since accepted the fact that I have nicely American tastes when it comes to beer.

Oh yeah, if I’m in a situation where I don’t mind being…errr…overly flatulent, then I love **Red Dog ** as well.

I like Anchor Steam, though it’s pricey. Boddington’s is another fave. But for everyday drinking, Yuengling’s is a great buy.

It’s regional. See here.

I’m going to have to go with Blue Moon and Newcastle.

With snaps to Fat Tire, Bohemia and Gosser Dark.

Corona Extra with lime…pity I stopped drinking this year

Much like masterbation, people either do it or lie about doing it.

Bud Light

It’s the - one beer to have - when you’re having more than 12!!!

You know what to expect!!! True beer drinkers know what I’m talking about.

I know I’m going to bore a lot of you beer aficionado’s to death, but I like either a Miller Lite or a Coors Light.

Oops, I wasn’t clear. I knew that, but I didn’t want anyone to think it was a typo for ale. Thanks.

As for Bud Light, I don’t even drink it when it’s free. Not worth it. I do masturbate, however.

I absolutely, positively can’t stand the taste of beer.

However, Red Dog is the least offensive.

I tend to stay with Beck’s Dark and Sam Adam’s Triple Bock. I prefer the heavier beers.
