Poll: If you gotta drink it, Whats your favorite Beer?

On the rare occasions I find myself in Düsseldorf, I love Schlüssel Alt, available at (naturally) Zum Schlüssel, in the Altstadt.

At home in Seattle, I love Hale’s Cream Ale the most, and also Loki Lager (sometimes available at the Elysian Brewery).

When I lived in Pennsylvania…well, Yuengling, of course.

I’m also a big fan of Maudite Amber, a Belgian-style beer made in (I think) Canada.

Although the Unibroue beers aren’t bad, they are no match for a pint of fresh Teley bitter.

Or even, Tetley’s Bitter.

Tsingdao! The great Chinese style Pilsner.

And I used to like Mickey’s Big Mouths. Probably because they were difficult to drink out of those wide mouthed bottles (in a humorous, foam spitting type of way), especially after a few of the intensely strong little m@#$f@@#%s.

I absolutely love both Moosehead Lager and Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale. Incedentally, both of them are brewed in Atlantic Canada.

Good thread, Phlosphr. I may have to take notes.

My favorite is Tuborg from Denmark. But I haven’t had any in 31 years (except for the inferior Tuborg Gold sold in the US.) Does anyone know if I can get real Tuborg in France?

GUINNESS FOR STRENTGH

What he said.

During the year I lived in North Carolina, I really came to love this beer–it replaced Miller Lite as my favorite low-cost beer. It’s really great. I think that the state nearest to me where Yuengling is distributed is Virginia, however. I really, really miss Yuengling… snif

Boo! Actually, it was on sale last week at Liquor Barn up in Lexington for $6.99/six. I’m going to drive up there this afternoon and see if I can’t score some more at that price, or if they’ve sold out already. Usually, the Celebration Ale runs $7.99 - $8.99 around here.

However, Goose Island IPA is right up there with SNCA as a bad-ass IPA and I can get it year-round for $5.99/six, so there’s some consolation.

I drank my last two homebrew IPAs last night for my birthday, and I’ve got a week to go until the next batch is ready. In addition to (hopefully) picking up some cheap SNCA this afternoon, I may splurge and get some Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA… that’s another good one (that I can’t usually afford!)

Deschutes Beers, especially the Black Buttes Porter and Obsidian Stout, are also among the best, I think, but I’ve never seen them sold further from Bend, OR, than Sacramento.

I like a black & tan sometimes (Guiness & Harp), but I really like Amberbock (an Anheuser-Busch microbrew), Boulevard Wheat and Schlafly (also St. Louis microbrews). Mmmm, mmm good.

Weird. I’m in Arizona too, and I typically drink Fat Tire. And I got my Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy.

Of course, I drink Fat Tire because I used to live near the New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins, CO, and got it for relatively cheap. It also is just a fantastic beer.

De Koninck if available, Kronenbourg (“pint of numbers, please”) or Stella (“pint of wife-beater, please” - no, I have no idea where the nickname originated) if not.

Grolsch when I’m at home.

Pfungstädter, or Ellwanger Rotochsen, or Cerpa, depending on which part of my family I am visiting. The great thing about Germany is that almost every town has it’s own brewery, and the beer is always excellent. There is no reason to buy and drink beer that has been trucked halfway across the country. (And my wife is from Belem, Brazil… that’s how Cerpa ended up in the list).

Leinenkugels Oktoberfest. One of the reasons fall is my favorite time of year.

Honorable Mention: Negra Modelo

I like to try different beers, but being a coal cracker, I always default to Yuengling Lager.

I stick with local micros, rather than mass-produced pisswater. Current favorites are Alaskan Winter Ale and Alaskan Summer Ale.

Pilsner urquell!

It’s all in the water they use…

so smooth
So soft
so deliciously refreshing!

Is Lambic considered Beer? If so, I really like Raspberry or Cherry Lambic. I don’t remember the brewing company, but I’d know the bottle if I saw it.

As for a more typical beer, Sam Adams’ Cherry Wheat is nice.

If it’s just a simple stop in and pick up a 12 pack - Rolling Rock

On tap - Leinie’s Honey Weiss - “Leinenkugel Brewing”

If I’m in Texas - Shiner Bock - “Spoetzl Brewing”

I’ll admit it. I am a man who loves fruity girly drinks. I hate the taste of beer or hard liquor. When I’m at a bar, I’ll manage a Mike Hard Lemonade or wine cooler.
