I have one self-absorbed narcissist I recently tried the ignore feature on, as every one of her posts left my eyes rolling like a window shade that had been pulled down and abruptly released. It’s annoying to be told that person is on my “ignore” list every time she posts, but nowhere near as annoying as reading her self-indulgent twaddle. I have no regrets.
I could tell that a couple of folks thought that one of them was on my ignore list. So the other one wasted a lot of time reposting everything that the other one said so that I “had” to read it.
I’ve never had anyone on my ignore list in the 7 or 8 years I’ve been here. Y’all are much too bizzare for me to leave anyone off – so far.
Oh, yes. I have a handful of people on my Ignore list. I don’t feel much desire to look at their posts; nothing they could say would enrich me in any way.
There’s a few posters I would put on my Ignore list, but then I couldn’t read their insane ramblings. Insane ramblings and recreational outrage are a few of my hobbies, so I’d really be doing myself a disservice to Ignore them.
I wish we had a “selective ignore” feature, where when a poster goes off on a hijack, you can ignore his/her posts and the responses in the hijack, but see any of their posts that aren’t part of it. That would require greater AI than currently is possible, unfortunately. I can think of a few people here I would use it on. Instead, I just read the first couple of lines, and if it’s part of the hijack, exercise the scroll wheel.
