What would be some fine trivia is: Which Doper is on the most Ignore Lists?
Wouldn’t it be cool if you couldn’t read a thread with at least 50 posts because everybody in the thread was on your Ignore List?
Not on this board, but on another board I do. The temptation to peek is sometimes there, though (it’s never worth it).
I don’t bother with that stuff. If I don’t want to read someone’s opinion I won’t visit message boards. If something pisses me off I’ll either speak my mind or move on if it’s not worth it.
Most of the time I move on.
I used to have a couple, but the feature is more annoying than any poster themselves, it makes threads annoying to read, unless it’s someone that doesn’t post much - and then there’s no point to me putting them on an ignore list, anyway.
Plus, I generally only ignore the type of people who are always derailing threads with their own schtick, and when a thread gets derailed like that I lose interest and stop reading anyway, so the ignore feature doesn’t affect that - it’s derailed whether I can read that person’s posts or not.
I used to have one person, but found myself un-ignoring individual posts till I wondered what my point was.
I don’t see the point, but then again I don’t get in to the real heated threads around here.
Nobody on SDMB is on my ignore list. It’s people in real life who are there.
There is one. He got agressive with me and pushed some psycho buttons that really messed me up for a couple months. It’s one thing to let comments roll off and chalk them up as coming from an asshole, but a trigger is a trigger and he said just the right thing–once a psychotic episode gets rolling my ability to recognize a trollish source doesn’t matter. I “ignored” him because I work very hard at maintaining my stability and simply can’t allow myself to get derailed.
Just one.
Simply because every post is some variation of the same inane drivel.

Two people, one of whom was banned shortly after I put them there.
Nope. I imagine that over the years *someone *has pissed me off, but the truth is none of them are important enough in my life to remember. If I see an annoying post I just move on.
A few, posts I found myself skipping over lead from one thing to another.

I think it would be cool if in your user panel you could see how many people ignore you. No names, just something like “X posters are currently ignoring you”.
I would not think that was cool- that would hurt my feelings.
See, now, I would not have pegged you for the type to use the ignore function. That goes to show that just because I think I’ve peeped a poster’s style, doesn’t mean I have any clue.
I have someone on my list. It was someone I went to high school with who I didn’t like, but he thought I should date him and he bugged me all the time about it. When he found that I was on Facebook, I didn’t want him following me around in an internet sense, so I denied his friend request. But he kept requesting. So I ignored him.
I am far too nosy. How could I live knowing people are posting things that I can’t see?
I almost never do. And remember; one of them was so bad that he got banned soon after.
