Wow, really? I got my dog when she was ~12 weeks old: the puppy breath didn’t last for long, but it took a year or so for the dog breath to kick in. I’ve really been noticing it since she turned 2 (last summer). As much as I miss the puppy breath, I would also take the non-dog-breath again in a heartbeat.
I’m giggling at the idea of you being a cold-hearted smake.
I don’t hate it, but puppy breath to me is only attractive in the fact that it is not disgusting dog breath. That is, it is mildly appealing because it is not appalling. It is not something I would describe as liking, though, so I did not answer the poll.
FWIW, my dog Molly (rest her poochie soul) was a sweet-smelling dog her whole life. Her breath just smelled warm, and her fur just smelled furry. No dog odor. I didn’t even bathe her all that often. I think she was an anomaly among dogs.
My mom always said it smelled like biscuits and gravy. I adore tiny puppy breath. Our two dogs now don’t have horrific breath, like our pugs did, but whenever we had a litter of puppies, I could hardly put them down. Snuggly wonderfulness!
I never understood the fascination with puppy breath until our girls came to us last January. They were about 10-12 weeks old so while it was there, it was definitely diminishing. Even at that age, the puppy breath was still sweet and pleasant. Within the first 2 weeks after we got them, the puppy breath went away. But, they’re about 16 months now and while their breath isn’t pleasant, it’s also not yet at the level of dragon breath. We do what we can to keep their breath smelling somewhat not disgusting but it’s definitely a losing battle.
I have a huge amount of pics but most aren’t puppy pics. Here’s my 339 photobucket pics. This starts the day we picked them up from the transport and continues until a couple weeks ago. I’ve been a bit lazy on the uploading lately.
I don’t tend to get my nose close enough to my puppies’ mouth to notice. I do notice that puppies in general smell better than dogs in general (although I love the smell of my dogs when they aren’t dirty but the soap smell has faded.)
If I’d ever had a puppy, I’m sure I’d have loved it. When I visit people who have dogs, their dogs usually love me & sit next to me. Of course thats probably because I pet them & pay attention to them.
Of course there was that one 13 yo psycho basset hound that would bark if anyone ever accidently made eye contact.
This thread is mindfucking me. Puppy breath is truly one of the most gag inducing smells that can be encountered in life. Ranks up there with burnt grease and sewer gas. It never dawned on me that someone could actually look for puppies breath to sniff. My wife and I were so happy when tango grew out of his stank breath stage. We miss it about as much as we miss the razor sharp claws and teeth he had too.
Oh and those who say they let dogs lick their lips you are gross.
