Inspired by What kind of socks do you wear with moccasins?, Which colour of sock do you own more of than any other colour?
I learned, too late in life, that the key to finding a matching pair is to own only one colour and brand of sock. ALL my socks are black. All are ‘sports’ type socks (thick and wooly)
I own three types of socks.
Hanes Black with the red stripe at the toe 80%
Hanes white with the grey heels 15 %
Hanes short white with the grey heels 5%
This ensures I dont even have to fold my socks (which I dont like to do as it ruins the elastic) and makes getting dressed in the morning that much easier.
Black dress socks and black sports socks, worn about half the time, each. Unfortunately they’re all different brands, as I’ve picked them up at different times.
Mine too.
I love the gray athletic socks from Old Navy.
Plus a wide assortment of all different colors that other guys usually don’t wear as socks.
I have white fuzzy socks, plain white athletic socks, black socks, blue socks, navy socks, red socks, socks for about every holiday, socks with little margaritas on them, socks with bears, striped socks, socks with bows, socks with lace, but going by a percentage measure, I’d say about 25% of my socks are white.
FB
Probably about 60% black, mostly trouser socks and thin ankle socks; maybe about 20% white athletic and ankle ones.
The other 10% are much like some of the one’s in FaerieBeth’s sock drawer – we got the shamrock ones, the heart ones, the margarita ones, the black with white polka dots and white with black polka dots and so on and so forth. These are usually the ones I lose one of…
White ankle-length cotton.
All different brands, mostly Haynes.
I have a drawer full of them, when they are a clean, and a laundry basket full of them the rest of the time.
NEVER bother trying to pair them up. Well, unless I’m actually trying to wear some, then I make sure I stop at two.
Usually.
I learned the same thing recently. All of my socks are white and are the same brand (Hanes, I think). Makes life a hell of a lot easier, especially at laundry time, and especially because I switch between sandals and shoes several times a day and fuss around with socks quite often in situations where I have minimal time to get ready to leave.
all black.
I love black pants and my shoes are black so white socks would look really bad.
All white, generally with white toes and heels. I need some new ones though and will probably go with plain white.
Um, I mean all white with grey heels and toes, not white heels and toes.
A highly sensible philosophy and one that I follow. And I fell in love with a guy I thought shared it…all his socks black, all polo…until I realized there were subtle differences. And silver toed socks could only go with other siver toes. The ones with the little insignia on the side could not be paired with ones lacking said insignia (even though it was completely invisible when worn. ) AND one with an insignia on the right side could only go with it’s true mate, one with an insignia on the left side.
Ah, the joys of loving an obsessive complusive…
White!
One pair of black for the rare times I have to wear a suit.
About 75% white 25% black. I also have a maroon pair and a red pair I thought looked cute when I bought them, but rarely wear. Oh, and a couple stripey knee-highs that again, I thought were cute at the time but rarely find occasion to wear.
I wear jeans and sneakers every day to work, so I only have a couple “dress” socks. Therefore, about 90% of my socks are white athletic ones.
I have more white socks than any other color, but I have a pair of socks or two in almost every other color. And I wear them with the shirts that they “go” with.
Purple tshirt?? Purple socks…Blue jeans and blue tee?? Denim blue socks…
I know, I know, girls are weird
Off-white

About 70% white and 30% black. My goal, like others in this thread, is to have all of my socks of the same make and model, but as my wife always buys me whatever happens to be on sale I doubt I will achieve it anytime soon.
All stripes. I bought a pair, my daughter said: “Ew! You’re not going to WEAR those, are you?”, and I thought I had the teenage sock-stealing licked. So I bought lots more stripes. Apparently she lowered her standards, and I am once again sockless, whilst her laundry basket is mysteriously full of stripey socks.
