Hypothetically, you are a resident, homeowner in Florida, whose home has been destroyed by the recent double event. This is the first time your property has been destroyed, but who knows what the future will hold. After the destruction, your insurance carrier offers you the following settlement options, and advises they are ending business in the state. Which offer do you accept?
[ for the hypothetical, these will all be considered legal offers within the confines of your insurance contract ]
Rebuild your home up to the exact size and standard as your prior home, no upgrades.
Rebuild your home, up to the most current standards/code, to the limits of your prior assessed property value prior to the loss, which will result in a smaller or less luxurious home but safer.
Rebuild your home, to a standard expected to be immune too up to category 1 storms, to the limits of your prior assessed value, which will result in a MUCH smaller/less luxurious home.
Take an actual cash value settlement on the value of your home, minus the value of the land which you will retain, and put some other sort of structure on the property.
Take an actual cash value settlement on the value of your home and lot and relocate in state.
Take an actual cash value settlement on the value of your home and relocate out of state.
Take an actual cash value settlement on the value of your home, minus the value of the land which you will retain, attempt to resell the property while relocating.
You are in solitary confinement in prison or a concentration camp. You don’t think you’re going to be executed…but the regime is unpredictable. You are normally served the usual rubbish food, but one day an extravagant 5-course gourmet meal with many dishes is suddenly brought to your cell and left with no explanation.
Every year, my family gets together to decorate Christmas cookies. I usually make three varieties of cutout cookies, in advance, and we spend the afternoon decorating them (and eating snacks.) My brother-in-law gets creative which is how we ended up with the Christmas Walrus and Cookie Stonehenge.
I always make gingerbread cookies. But I need to decide the other two flavors I will make. I am going to try a ranked choice poll for it. (Not sure that will work too well, because the poll results only give the winner. If there is not a two-way tie, I will submit another poll for the second cookie flavor.)
Who is your favorite non-verbal animated character(s)? For purposes of this poll characters who appear together in the same series will be grouped together.
I’m going to say characters who “speak” but can’t be understood by the audience, like Kenny from South Park or Boomhauer from King of the Hill don’t count. So don’t pick “other” if you’re thinking of someone like them.
If someone says something about the “late 1900s” what time period would you initially think they were talking about, before you heard any further context?
For this experiment, I will compare the results from Ranked Choice poll to a regular poll. Please make your top choices match in both polls. Thank you.
