Have you ever slept out under the stars, as in slept outdoors without a tent or any other sort of shelter?
Let’s only times where you actually choose that as a location to sleep, not incidents where, say, you passed out drunk in someone’s yard at a frat party and when you came to it was morning.
Yes, on a camping trip (you may include backyard camping).
Yes, because I was homeless.
Yes, for some other reason that doesn’t fit into either of the above categories.
Children and adults are sometimes teased or mocked for having the following facial features. Which of them do you actually find rather attractive in adults?
The US Dictator, Congress, and Supreme Court declare women to be property. (All “men” are created equal.) I am an elderly, never-married woman. To whom do I now belong?
You receive an email from Amazon informing you that for certain reasons, you are barred from ever again buying anything from Amazon, for the rest of your life. How does this affect you?
I don’t care, I rarely or never order anything from Amazon anyway.
Meh, that’s too bad but I have other ways to buy things.
That’s a moderate inconvenience; I will need to do some work to find alternatives.
Oh no, that’s a big deal for me! I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon and I don’t know how I’ll replace it.
If you participate an an airline’s frequent flyer program, or ever have in the past, what have you spent your miles on?
Sorry, this poll will not contain a “not applicable” option. If you’ve never earned frequent flyer miles in your life please skip this poll. It’s just not interesting to have a poll where 90% of the responses are “not applicable”.
Free flights in economy
Free flights in business/first
Upgrades to premium economy or to a “preferred” economy seat
Upgrades to business/first class
Airline lounge access
Add-ons from the airline (eg. paying for checked bags, meals, earlier boarding, etc.)
Other travel, but non-airline related items (eg. hotel stays, rental cars, etc.)
Non-travel related items (eg. magazines, gift cards, etc.)
I spent my miles on something else that doesn’t fit into any of the above categories
That damn genie is back again. This time he offers you a deal: he will give you $100 million, tax free, no strings attached, no authorities questioning where you got it, etc. The only condition is you have to agree that for the rest of your life, you will drink only hot beverages, or only cold beverages. If you choose hot beverages, you cannot drink anything colder than 125 F (50 C). If you choose cold beverages, you cannot drink anything hotter than 40 F (5 C). The genie will arrange that you are never deprived of drinks due to inability to find the appropriate temperature beverage (for example, while camping); he will heat or cool whatever you drink accordingly.
What do you choose?
I will drink only hot beverages.
I will drink only cold beverages.
I decline the offer. You can keep your $100 million and I’ll drink what I want.
Because @pjd invalidated the results of my last poll by selecting options at random rather than skipping it, we have to run it again. I still request that people who have never participated in a frequent flyer program skip this poll.
If you participate an an airline’s frequent flyer program, or ever have in the past, what have you spent your miles on? I also added a few options I didn’t think of in the last one.
And to clarify, “free” means $0 airfare, even if you still had to pay some trivial amount of money to cover taxes and fees.
Free flights in economy
Free flights in business/first
To cover a portion of the airfare, but not all of it (What some airlines call “miles + cash” or similar)
I donated them or gifted them to a friend or relative
Non-travel related items (eg. magazines, gift cards, etc.)
I spent my miles on something else that doesn’t fit into any of the above categories
I’ve earned miles but I never spent them
I cannot or will not follow a simple request to skip polls that don’t apply to me
You see a large crowd of people protesting in public, peacefully - thousands, in fact. Could be a protest for any cause - gun control, the environment, healthcare reform, etc. Later, you learn that these protesters are paid - they are each receiving a considerable sum of money per day that they stand and hold protest signs. Does this affect how you view the cause that the protesters are supporting?
