I’ve been kind of amazed at the number of veteran Dopers I’ve encountered. Outside of veterans’ groups, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered so many fellow veterans (especially submarine veterans). So I’m curious how many of you have served (reserves count) in your country’s:

  • Army
  • Navy
  • Air Force
  • Marines
  • Coast Guard (or equivalent)
  • Space Force
  • Peace Corps (or equivalent)

Do you live in a touristy area? Define “touristy” and “area” as you like. The thought behind the question is seeing if where you live you are affected by an influx of visitors for the purpose of tourism. Also define “affected” as you wish but basically do tourists cause you to modify your life or behavior because of traffic, crowds etc. Answer as best you can and don’t stress if you think the answers don’t fit your situation exactly. It will all be ok.

  • I live in an area that draws in tourists year round
  • There is tourism here but it’s mostly seasonal
  • Nothing to see here, little to no tourism
  • There is a specific event or several events that bring in visitors but little to no tourism the rest of the time
  • Other because if there isn’t an option that fits my very specific answer you will be hearing from me
