Supposed to rain today, but I’ve heard that before.
I woke up too early, 3:30, I see a nap coming on later today.
Nothing special going on today, just irk and houseirk.
I ordered an InstaPot from the jungle this morning, finally was able to get into the website. I ordered a bunch of treats for Ripple, so he will be happy when this order comes.
He is so spoiled.
Spidey, the only time Ripple tries to chew my shoes is while they are on my feet.
A coworker and I arrived at the same time, and since I hadn’t seen her around for a while, I asked if she’d been on vacation. She told me her sister just died… That was a conversation stopper, for sure, tho she did tell me the whole story. Very sad.
On the plus side, we may finally get some rain today. I sure hope so! I left my car windows open - that should guarantee it!
Tis the start of my weekend and it’s cloudy so the sun didn’t wake me. Had a laaazy start. I may go shopping for household furnishings later- I need more cushions, and I think a rug or two. This shall be the main excitement for the day. The flat also needs defilthifying. It’s a veritable whirl of excitement round here.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of only 87 with a now fifty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon and evenin’. The big items on today’s agenda are laundry and new shelf paper in the pantry, which means emptyin’ it out (not a big area but still a chore) takin’ off the old paper, puttin’ in the new and puttin’ everything back. Over the next few days I shall accomplish the same with the kitchen cabinets and laundry room cabinets. ICK! We shall sup upon my world famous Eyetalian Chikin, squishes, baby lima beans and scalloped N.O.T. from a box (Don’t Judge!).
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy is hungry. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Morning all, like swampy it’s getting to the high 80’s today with rain forecast for the afternoon. Sent the contractor for the remodel a bunch of questions, once he gets them answered I’ll go ahead and get the paperirk signed.
FCM, been there with the ‘awkward’ moment before, all you can say is ‘my condolences’ and slink away as quietly as possible (least that is what I do).
Cupcakes, glad you found the Nathan hair; things we treasure often get put ‘somewhere’ and it’s always a bittersweet surprise when we find them…
CharmaChameleon, now you’ve gone and made me hongry; need to forage here in a minute (Y’all planning to stick around these parts? If so, we need to come up with an MMP name for you).
Had a fight last night with Romeo about going to his family’s house. By the time we both got done with work, it was nearly 7. The kids go to bed at 8. I didn’t want to go to his parents house to spend an hour with his family (including his SIL), because the kids had to go to bed soon, and I was so tired after a 10 hour day that I couldn’t hide my depression around them, even for an hour. I told him to go without me, or go tonight without me, but he wants us all to go and spend time as a family.
So now I’m ruminating over it (OCD + bipolar depression = so much fun). And I have to get through another 10 hours shift when all I want to do is lay in bed, periodically crying.
Shifty.
What was s’posed to be last night’s dinner was cooked this morning, so at least I have lunch for the next two days.
Tomorrow I’ve got three things on my calendar at 11 & go straight thru from 11am - 2pm. I don’t do so well w/o eating. Should be interesting.
I got up too late, but slept all right, in spite of the heat. A pill combo I hadn’t tried in a while, plus the renovators not making too much noise, helped.
You say Shifty
I say George or Georgette whichever the case may be.
Irked and napped, nothing else.
I feel full of sloth, but the dishwasher is calling to be unloaded, the sink needs to be cleared, my belly wants to be fed, and the dog wants me to go outside with him.
My new rug is here and now we have to shift rugs around, although that could wait until tomorrow when I have more energy.
Another fine Fogust morning here. As the TV weather guy calls it, Stratus Quo. Cool and murky will soon give way to sunny and warm, and the cycle repeats tomorrow.
But do they have beer and encourage bad habits??? No??? Then it looks like Doz Hoosiers got sumptin on those Philthydelphians!
Was already at Da Jungle working basically off the clock ------- again. I know they are counting on us peasants to sign up for extra shifts but that lovely creation of Hells Relations called the Hub is blocking everyone at our site from doing so. Been like that for a couple days now. No-one — not one person as far as I can tell — bothered telling TPTB. :smack: And like everything else this week “we’re working on it”. :smack: :smack: I clued in the Building Boss and he’s on the task. But I got a feeling mostly he is going to feel our pain and frustration. But what the heck – Dad always taught me to share.
Now I get to head back and do something nice on the clock.
I have completed laundry. I also completed puttin’ new shelf paper on the pantry shelves and now have an almost organized pantry. In addition I put new shelf paper in the cabinet where the spices are stored. doggio will be pleased to know the spices are not nearly as willy-nilly arranged as they were.
We could go with Shifty George.
Midget yay for sleepin’ better!
{{{Juliet}}} if you can’t deal, you can’t deal and Romeo should understand that.
The sky is as dark as it is at this point on a late Dec day. It’s scaaaary looking out there. Coupled w/ a fluorescent bulb in the hallway that’s flickering & really looks like lightning.
The [del]race[/del] event concept was you paid your entry fee, which included one (or two?) beers (& was held at a multi-bar facility so you could buy more), t-shirt, race bib, finisher’s medal, & results. Given the distance was 0.0 miles, your first step was also your last step. Everyone got the same “time” of 1 second & therefore the ‘race’ & age group winners were determined by random drawing. So yes, they had beer & encouraged bad habits.
Define ‘missed’. Can one miss something if they were (intentionally) left off the invite list? :o

[li]Karma Chameleon - a song by Boy George* & Culture Club, hence “George”[/li][li]Chameleons change or shift colors, hence “Shifty”[/li][/ul]
singer of the best call-&-response singalong song evah:
BG: Do you really want to hurt me? Crowd: YES! BG: Do you really want to make me cry? Crowd: YES!
Flytrap, we have a new mumper, CharmaChameleon. We are attempting to tumble for them and come up with a new nickname because we don’t really wanna hurt them by not bestowing a moniker. I fear that if they left, we might miss them blind, so we’re discussing a new nickname. BTW, I can get behind George.
I’m going to tell Romeo that he can take the kids over if he wants; I’m going to stay home and decompress. I’ll go over other nights, but I’m not doing every night for two weeks straight when I’m feeling this shitty. If I had the flu, he wouldn’t expect me to go every night; I’m sick and I can’t do it.
Dishwasher is washing.
I sat outside with Ripple and he kept stealing my shoes of my feet and running off with them. He brings them back so I can put them back on and he can steal them again.
He thinks that is a great game. I’m fine with it except sometimes he bites a bit too hard on my toes, but as long as he brings my shoes back and doesn’t drop them somewhere in the yard I am cool with it.
We had a bit of a thunderboomer, fortunately he doesn’t care about the noise and just keeps on playing.
I’m making tacos for my son, I don’t know what I am having yet. Maybe I’ll eat a taco and save the other pound of ground beef to make something tomorrow.
I feel so lazy today.
I guess I should start making a grocery list, and today is trim Ripple’s toe nails day. I should wash a load of towels but they can wait until tomorrow.
Temperature according to Weather Underground is at 32 degC, and 76% RH, yielding a “feels like” of 44 degC. Somehow that “seems” cooler than 111 degF.
It turns out I do have something on the docket for today–vote in the primary runoff! Looking at the fact there are no local or federal races, only state-wide, on the ballot, I’m tempted to just blow it off. However, that would break my 100% participation record in all elections I have been eligible for since November, 1972, and that’s just not something I’m happy to do. It’s only about 6km to my precinct, so I’ll wait until the rush hour madness on US-72/I-565 has diminished somewhat. It might be a little cooler by then, too.
I hate Alabama politics. Even so, I almost always have a reason to vote against someone or something.
