I’m running Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and occasionally get popup ads from tribalfusion.com. I’ve got the option checked to block popup windows, but this company still manages to get them through. Does anyone know a good method of eliminating them?
Dissable flash.
yep. sad to say that some wiseguy figured out that you can circumvent the popup disabler by going through Flash instead of the standard HTML route.
Use Flashblock. It blocks Flash-based popups. If there’s Flash-based objects on a page, it replaces it with a play button. If you want to see the object, just press play.
One of the better Firefox extensions.
Unfortunately, there seems to be other ways to get around the popup blocker besides flash, so this may not block them all.
I have not had good luck with flash block.
I thought I was running Flashblock, but can’t find it here on the office computer, so I’ve reinstalled and and will try again. I’m almost positive that it is running on the home PCs but I still get the tribalfusion popups.
Is there a way to disable flash without installing a plugin?
I’ve had a few popups since installing Flashblock, but they were actually regular popups. I had dialed back the adblocker in Zone Alarm because a couple of comics strips sites wouldn’t display the strip unless I did so.
