I’ve posted before on another thread that IMHO Veep is essentially unwatchable. It’s just not pleasant watching the characters grind on each other episode after episode.
The Office. It’s like chewing the gum that was stuck on the bedpost overnight.
To be fair, the former predated the latter; the pilot was used as a segment of “Love, American Style” in February of '72. American Graffiti likely would have been different had that pilot not existed.
I love the film Office Space. Knowing this, my coworker brought in a bunch of DVDs for The Office, and she insisted I take them home and watch them, guaranteeing I’d love the show.
I watched the first episode. Not funny and cringeworthy (and not in a good way). I suffered through the second episode. Not funny and cringeworthy.
A couple days later I returned the DVDs to her, appologized, and said it just didn’t click with me.
I’d have been tempted to bop the back of her head. 
The only episode of Love, American Style I remember watching was the one with Connie Kreski, Playboy’s PMoY for 1969, as “Gloria,” a waitress in a topless restaurant. It annoyed me no end that they showed only her face and back. 
WARNING: Possible risqué content! 
Perusing the cast list for that series, I see that just about everyone who was someone in Hollywood at the time was in at least one episode!

Not only that, it was hard to bite.

Everyone is different, I guess. I loved the Office and Two and a Half Men.
I too loved The Office, but I think the first season was pretty weak. The character Dwight (and his inetractions with Jim) was always my favoite part of the show, and he didn’t really gel at first. But by the second season, he was hilarious in ‘Drug Testing’, and ‘The Injury’.
Not to forget Fire Drill.

Michael: “Dwight, what’s your middle name?”
Dwight: “D a n g e r”.
Great, now I can’t keep the theme song from Love American Style out of my head!
Jeez, I managed to avoid it…until now. 
Same here. After all he hype about what a great show it was I finally decided to watch it. I found all the characters profoundly unlikable, most of the situations they got into stupid, and as you said the constant sniping offensive. I think I only lasted two episodes.
It should be repurposed for trump’s freedumb (with a B, not many people know that!) fair

This. Norman Fell, with his “gay” schtick was in unfunny poor taste. The rest of the cast just merely sucked.
Bosom Buddies was another one. If not for the introduction of Tom Hanks and his faultless comedic timing, it would have died a squealing death.
Some of the series mentioned above were products of their time, though, so I give them a break
It goes without saying that the wife is much cleverer than the husband and actually runs the household.
