Popular sitcoms that suck(ed)

To me, it depended too much on “Stupid comedy” in other words, stuff that was “funny” as someone was stupid. I do not like that, nor do I find it funny. Nor do i like “cringeworthy” comedy.

Office Space does have some pretty good moments.

Here is the Wiki list of bad sitcoms-

The only one I remember watching was the Flying Nun some, I think because it was on before or after some better shows.

Two Broke Girls. I tried watching an episode and it felt like a high school production. I could practically hear the actor yelling “mark” before moving and delivering their lines.

I watched a few, I enjoyed some of the snark delivered by Kat Dennings, but that wasnt enough to make me watch more.

Yes, Dear was so bad that the president of the network admitted it was awful, but the ratings are good enough to keep it on the air.

According to Jim was awful in all respects. Jim was an asshole, yet his wife always forgive him.

Kevin Can Wait was so bad it inspired Kevin can F*** Himself, which satired that entire genre.

Gosh I’m glad you’re still around.

Oh, where the hell to start? I’ve got a terrific sense of humor and it does NOT all need to be highbrow. That said? Trepan me fast and ugly before making me watch ANY episodes of:

Friends
The King of Queens
Mike and Molly
Seinfeld

And yes, whatchoosaid about Tyler Perry.

All of whom were quite popular, got good ratings and even awards. So, despite the fact that some people didnt like them, they didnt “suck”.

Mind you other than Jerrys little monologue to start, I didnt care much for Seinfeld myself. But De gustibus non est disputandum.

Nitpick: John Ritter’s character Jack was (pretending to be) gay.

I am aware of that plot device. My quarrel was with Fell’s portrayal.

So, Fell performed tacky gay schtick to make fun of Jack?

I didn’t watch the show that much.

I guess I hated The Nanny because I couldn’t take more than 2 minutes of Fran Drescher’s grating voice

Yup. Batting his eyes and making a “gay face” became his shtick.

Seinfeld is at the top of the list but I’m surprised there’s no love hate for Family Ties. Yeah, your typical HS kid is aways at home in a shirt & tie; even when the rest of the family is casual.

Top of what List?

This list?

Family Ties? Seven Seasons, five Emmys, and a bunch of other awards? 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Come on, saying that Sitcom sucked; is just plain wrong. Mind you, that doesnt mean you have to like it, of course. De gustibus non est disputandum.

Yes, this list. Seinfeld won (looks up…) 10 emmys but there are a bunch of people in just this thread that say it sucked.

Frankly they are incorrect.

Yep. Even tho I was not a fan, Seinfeld could not be called a Sitcom that sucked. It certainly can be called “A sitcom I didnt like”.

By that criteria, this thread is basically pointless. The concept of “popular” but “sucks” clearly is going to be based on individual opinions, which the OP specifically states.

You make a decent point, but look at this list-

and the OP was clear-

I mean, even those that dont like Seinfeld - and I am one- cant really say " among the worst pieces of shit to ever be on television".

But this thread has detractors and fans, arguing both sides of several Sitcoms. That makes for a fun and likely thread.

That’s just a list of sitcoms that someone thinks aged poorly. Really no different from this thread.

At least we can all agree that The King of Queens sucked.
