Porno movies: elements of appeal? (Not so simple as you might think!)

Granted I am not an aficionado of X-rated movies–let alone the “hard core” kind. In any case, the content, aside from the putative story line, seems to be the sex acts the audience apparently expects–oral sex; anal sex; coitus (penis-vagina); fellatio; cunnilingus; and some bisexuality thrown in.
I was at the “OctDoper” Fest in the Los Angeles area, and was discussing this, to a limited extent, with some others, including Boi-Toi. The “bisexual” acts between two women are included because, IMHO, it turns the male viewer on to see one woman in sexual passion, and by extension it would turn a male viewer on even more to see two women in sexual passion.
He pointed out, however, that the porno moviemakers don’t include a sex scene between two (presumably gay) males as a potential turn-on for the female viewer. I mulled over that one for a while.
That said, is my observation accurate? Aside from the story line, are all X-rated movies (not Midnight Cowboy! pretty much the same?

Not at all , porno movies by the great danish director Leopold Von Fuckit are a work of art. I recommend you “Passion by the baltic”… Come on man, what the hell are you expecting Les miserables porn version

well, actually, the works of andrew blake are far better than anything else on the market.
or so i’ve heard…

I was making a joke in case you didn’t realize

[Homer]Mmmmmmmm… porno![/Homer]

I think the lack of male/male sex acts in most mainstream porno is the result of the people making the porn expecting that the largest market for their product will be heterosexual males. (True? I don’t know; but probably…) Heterosexual males, for the most part, aren’t going to be interested in male/male interaction, and most likely it would ruin their enjoyment of the “art” film in question.

I know that I would fast-foreward through it, should I come across such a scene in a porno film (NOT from homophibia, let me rush to add! Not that there’s anything wrong with that… oh, wait! Yes there IS something wrong with homophobia, dammit! I would FF through it simply because it would not interest me, and I’d want to get back to the good parts!).

Homophobia is, sadly, one reason M/M scenes are not included. Also, the demand is insufficient to warrant inclusion in mainstream flicks.
Are all x-rated movies the same? Well that depends on your definition. I suppose all action films are the same on a certain level too.

Goodguy is minding his own business, keeping his nose clean when suddenly Badguy does something to upset Goodguy. Now it is time for Goodguy to teach Badguy a lesson. Goodguy fights Badguy and his Evil Minions[sup]TM[/sup]. After a gueling battle “'tis but a flesh wound”, Goodguy wins and heads of into the sunset[sup]®[/sup], girl in arms.

Having said all that, there are some fairly good (good being a relative term and all) x-rated movies out there. Wild Orchids springs to mind, as well as most other Zalman King movies.

It’s not homophobia if it simply doesn’t turn them on. There’s no fear involved, it’s just disinterest.

You’re right of course. I failed to make that distinction.
