In other news, Police: Suspect shot, killed by homeowner during home invasion
A man inside an apartment at the Sable Chase Apartments, on the 2000 block of Sable Chase Boulevard, told police his roommate fired at multiple robbers who had climbed onto their balcony.
One man was found dead inside the home.
“We believe he is a suspect, part of this home invasion call,” police said.
NewsChopper 2 was there after police discovered a second body behind the building in a field.
Another incident with multiple robbers. This time two robbers were killed.
Related to Orwell’s point, this robbery and murder happened Sunday night at a pizza joint near closing time in a suburb of Houston. FTA:
Investigators say an armed suspect came into the restaurant around 9:30 Sunday night to rob the place.
They say Meilke [sic] appeared to be complying after the suspect demanded money, but was then shot multiple times and died.
19 year old Peter Mielke was an employee of the restaurant. As an aside, how goddamned hard is it to get the guy’s name right? He’s dead, and the copyeditor gives so few cares that they spell his last name two different ways in the same 500 word story? Sigh.
Anyway, just because you comply, doesn’t mean you’re not still going to get shot. It’s not rational for the crook to turn an armed robbery into a capital murder case, but if they were rational people, they wouldn’t be stickup men.

Not a DGU, but more positive news: New Jersey gun charge dropped …
Hughes said he and his wife were on their way home from a concert and dinner in Atlantic City last month when a drunken driver hit their vehicle. He told police he had a handgun under his seat, and officers secured his personal 9mm Glock handgun while he went to the hospital, he said. He was charged days later.
Hughes, 46, was the latest to be charged with carrying a legally owned gun into New Jersey, which doesn’t recognize carry permits from other states. Last year, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie pardoned at least six people who faced similar charges.
So why did this guy have his charges dropped, but the other 6 people had to wait for a pardon? Oh that’s right, he is a corrections officer in Pennsylvania.
Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said Monday that the charge against Raymond Hughes of carrying a weapon without a state permit was inappropriate.
Hughes had a Pennsylvania carry permit, but it wasn’t recognized by New Jersey’s strict gun laws. He faced a minimum of 3 ½ years in prison if he was found guilty.
Police in Glassboro filed the charges last month. Dalton said the prosecutor’s office had been reviewing the case but decided to dismiss the charges instead of allowing the case to move forward.
I’m glad the charges were dismissed, but it really does highlight again that the laws for carry need to be more uniform across some of the holdout states that don’t allow it.

In other news, Mexican Town crime spree stopped by victim with CPL
They would eventually be stopped when they tried to hold up Happy Bar on Green Street, thanks to the owner.
Felipe Orozco walked into the bathroom, slipped a red mask on, came out and demanded money from the owner. They argued, then Orozco shot him in the leg…
The bad guy messed with the wrong victim. The owner of the bar, a CPL holder himself, pulled out his weapon and fired back multiple times.
Orozco’s partners in crime saw how badly he was wounded, picked him up and dumped him at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
DGU with no deaths, though multiple injuries. 3vs1 and the 1 prevailed.

In other news, Would-be robber pulls knife on hotel guest, then guest pulls a gun
The guest, an enlisted Army soldier, told police he saw a man in the hallway at Hotel Elegante checking the plumbing. That man then came to the soldier’s door and asked to inspect the plumbing.
“The man’s act was convincing and the guest allowed him into the room, after he put his dogs away,” police said. “The suspicious man entered the room, pulled his hoodie over his head, and displayed a knife.”
The off-duty soldier told police that he grabbed his own gun and talked the suspect onto the ground.
DGU with no shots fired. Burglar brought a knife to a gun fight.
Texas now protects the Second Amendment rights of University students. If they have a concealed carry permit, they can carry concealed on campus and in classrooms of public schools.
The law cannot be enforced on private schools, and all private schools have opted out. :smack: Look forward to a big exodus of students and professors from private schools to the public schools where their 2nd Amendment rights will be respected.
There are several webpages cautioning teachers to avoid certain controversies for their own safety when guns are permitted. This should reduce atheistic teachings like gay rights and AGW. Win-Win!

In other news, Suspect sought after attempted burglary; homeowner shoots 1
The owner told investigators that he came home and discovered two men attempting to break into his house. He said he confronted the men, and the confrontation led to him shooting at one of them with his handgun, BCSO reported.
According to the owner, the suspect he fired upon drove away in a dark-colored — possibly black — Dodge SUV, heading east on Terrell Street, while the other suspect fled on foot. However, deputies received information on the location of the vehicle and found it behind a residence at 8507 Estrella St., a few blocks away.
Huntsman was found inside the residence and had a gunshot wound to the left thigh, according to law enforcement. He was arrested without incident on a burglary charge and was taken to a local hospital, BCSO reported.

In other news, Connecticut Liquor Store Owner Pulls Gun On Would-Be Armed Robber
When the man entered the Bridgeport liquor store Wednesday evening, he apparently thought he was the only one with a gun. But the store owner quickly whipped out his pistol and sent the would-be armed robber running for his life, CBS2’s Steve Langford reported.
“When he said, ‘Give me the money,’ my wife, she opened the register,” said John Alves, 65, owner of Madison Keg & Spirit. “That’s why I cocked my gun and I point it at him.”
DGU with no shots fired. There’s also a pretty good video of the whole thing, which is very brief.

In other news, Man shoots, kills attempted robbery suspect in north Harris County
Officials arrived on scene in the 500 block of Cypress Station Drive just before 6 a.m. Sunday to find the man shot dead in the street. Police say a woman was returning home from work and noticed two suspicious men in the parking lot. She called her boyfriend who was inside their apartment as she walked out from her car.
Authorities say while the woman was on the phone, the two men came toward her and attempted to steal her purse. Her boyfriend then went outside, pulled a gun and shot at the suspects, killing one of them. The other suspect left the scene. It is unknown whether he was shot.
That could have ended much worse if the woman wasn’t assisted by her armed boyfriend.

In other news,
Investigators say a group of men tried to enter the Lobster Club while a private party was going on, but were turned away.
“There were about five males who wanted to get into the club, but they were refused because it was a private party,” said Philadelphia Police Capt. Drew Techner.
After the party ended and the employee closed up and left, police say he discovered the men were waiting for him.
“They followed him home, and they confronted him,” said Techner.
A fight ensued, and that’s when the employee fired one shot, hitting a 41-year-old man in the stomach.
5 vs 1 and the 1 prevailed, though it’s unclear if all 5 men followed the one person home. DGU with no deaths.

All IMHO, but it’s going to depend on the lobster, and the elk for that matter. The Down East ones you can get from around Matinicus or Vinalhaven are about as good as it gets. They beat farmed elk. Now, keeping in mind that the work to get it adds quite a bit to the perceived taste, but the backstraps from an elk you’ve bugled in, after climbing seemingly every damned hill in eastern Idaho to get to that point, is about the tastiest meat possible.
I’d be happy with either as a last meal. From hunters who I’d think would know, when I asked them what the tastiest game animal was, they mentioned nilgai .
