In other news, Tulsa Resident Shoots, Kills Home Invasion Suspect

Walker said a man had knocked on the front door and asked to use the phone. He used a handgun to hold and the man and woman in the home at bay and started gathering items to steal.

The man who lives there got his own handgun, Walker said, and shot the suspect. He says the intruder then stumbled out of the home and collapsed at the corner of Queen and Cheyenne. Police said that’s where they found his body.

DGU with one death. Why are people opening the door to uninvited folks at midnight. That is a recipe for trouble.

That is the near North side of Tulsa.
I don’t think it has changed much in the last 50-60 years so this sounds like ‘par for the course’ in that area when it comes to stuff at midnight.

In other news, Sheriff: Forestdale homeowner pulls gun, turns table on trio of would-be burglars

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a homeowner noticed three suspects allegedly trying to break into his shed outside his residence on Tomahawk Circle around 12:30 p.m. The homeowner grabbed his gun and confronted the trio, two of whom were women. The suspects ran from the armed man and attempted to drive away, but their car got stuck in a ditch. The homeowner then held the male suspect at gunpoint while the two females ran from the car.

DGU with no injuries. These do not appear to be the brightest bulbs.

In other news, Resident Shoots And Kills Suspected Burglar In North Columbus

The resident told police that 26-year-old Tory Jones forced his way into the home. When officers arrived at the home, they found Jones had been shot and had died from a gunshot wound.

In other news, Tampa clerk fires back, killing gunman; police searching for 2nd suspect

Tampa Police Department investigators say at 10:40 p.m., two suspects entered Cut Rate Liquors at 3312 N. 15th St. wearing ski masks and hoodies.

They pointed guns at the clerk and demanded money. The clerk pulled out a gun and at least one of the suspects fired at him. The clerk also fired and hit Cody Bolesta, 20, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bolesta’s accomplice left the store. Police are searching for him.

DGU with one death. 2vs 1 and the one prevailed. Apparently the dead robber was also a felon in possession.

Hollywood lies, guns are not magic wands that make people do what you want.
Actually pretty useless unless you shoot with them.

There guys were not ready to kill so they were way too slow.

The clerk knew he was going to shoot and did, he did not wave the magic wand around, he used it.

If you are not willing to kill and more than ready to do so, don’t take a gun or take it out.

Actually some of the cop shows are having the good guys shoot hostage takers right past the face of the hostage. A bit risky unless the good guy is very good but it makes the point, a gun, a hostage or saying “Sir” does make you or anyone else bullet proof.

Some people train and some don’t. Some people get lucky and some don’t. Some people are prepared to defend themselves. Can’t tell what was more applicable in this situation.

In other news, Burglary suspect shot by homeowner in Little Rock identified

When the homeowner walked to his back door, he saw a man, later identified as Aaron Beasley, inside his house. The victim told police Beasley then started running towards him at the back door, and he fired multiple shots at Beasley.

Beasley then reportedly ran back through the house while the homeowner was shooting at him. Beasley jumped out of the front window that he entered through.

DGU with no deaths. The burglar must have overestimated his chances, and was quickly convinced otherwise.

In other news, Police: Suspect Shot Dead During Attempted Robbery In Brooklyn Park

Brooklyn Park police say they believe a man with a legal permit to carry shot and killed a would-be armed robber in Brooklyn Park Monday night.

The permit holder told police the man tried to rob him at gunpoint at the end of this driveway. Police say witnesses are backing his story.

“That does appear [to be] what occurred,” Bruley said. “We have recovered two individual firearms from the scene.”

DGU with one death. Another instance of the defensive person being able to fend off an initial aggressor.

In other news, 13-Year-Old Carjacking Suspect Shot

She said the young suspect had a bullet wound in the upper right part of his abdomen. An officer on the scene recognized the youngster from “previous encounters,” according to a police report. He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital where his condition has stabilized.

A police report said the incident started when the driver of the car, 28-year-old Yazmina Mora, was waiting for a light to change. She said one of the youngsters approached her on the right side of her car with his hands to his chest.

Mora reportedly thought he was going to beg for money. The report says that’s when her passenger and boyfriend, 25-year-old Paul J. Clarke, noticed that the suspect had a black revolver. He told her not to move in order to not be shot. The report says Clarke pulled out his own gun from his pocket and fired two shots.

DGU with no deaths. 4 vs 2 and the 2 prevailed. I imagine shooting inside a vehicle would be incredibly loud, and through the glass would cause some deflection. Good shooting to achieve at least one hit.

In other news, Property manager not charged for shooting intruder

A property manager who shot and killed a man he claimed broke into one of his homes will not be charged for the death.

Thursday afternoon before 3 p.m., two property managers told police they came to check one of their properties, located in the 4500 block of East Viking Road.

A locksmith preparing the empty home for rental reported there was a stranger inside. The managers, a man and his wife, arrived with their dogs and found the intruder in the backyard.

They told police he attacked them. FOX5 was told the intruder punched the male manager and the dog several times.

Who punches a dog?

A friend of mine is a cop/dog handler. His dog has been punched a few times. When the dog grabs and chews on someone’s hand/arm, their natural response is to beat on the dog.

Alternatively, dogs can be trained to bite high on the thigh. It leaves both of the suspects hands free, but it also really freaks most people out more than a hand/arm bite.

Maybe someone here could confirm, but I heard from a cop that with hand/arm bites someone will often continue fighting, while “high thigh” (groin, but they don’t call it that) bites more often lead to submission (get him off me).

In other news,Homeowner shoots suspect breaking into SE Houston home

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a call of a shooting at 4:30 a.m. at a home on Cayton near Santa Fe.

When HPD arrived at the scene they found a male with a gunshot wound to the torso. He had a pillow, blanket and a black bag with unknown items.

DGU with no deaths. Apparently he was hit by a shotgun shell. I wonder what load was used that allowed him to be transported in stable condition after being able to flee.

In other news, Report: Man killed after forcing entry into apartment

According to investigators, 48-year-old Thomas Selitto knocked on an apartment door and forced his way inside after the resident opened it.
A physical altercation ensued, YPD said.
The resident told Selitto to leave, but Selitto allegedly threatened the resident and advanced again.
YPD said the resident then shot Selitto, who later died from his wounds.

DGU with one death. The article doesn’t say if the two were previously acquainted, but opening your door to a stranger is not without risk.

A near miss with bird shot will sting like hell without being immediately dangerous. Also, target loads are considerable weaker than field loads.

Rookie b-ball player finds out you don’t kick in doors to an apartment. As if kicking in the front door wasn’t enough. This wanna be bad ass kicks in the homeowner’s bedroom door too. Then the intruder gets his ass blown away.

This is pretty much the strategy we were taught in cc class. Don’t go looking around the house for an intruder. Let the bastard steal what he wants. Take cover in the bedroom and keep your gun trained on the door. Safety off! Call 911. Shoot if the intruder tries to come in the bedroom.

The tone of this story is odd. Doesn’t make any difference that Einstein thought this was a former friend’s house. Kicking in doors at 3 AM will get your ass blown away every time.
