Pelicans' Dejean-Jones dies from gunshot wound

I wonder if the homeowner used a revolver? I bought a small frame S&W .38 for my bedroom. Laser sight. I own a couple semi-auto target pistols but wanted a revolver to make damn sure it didn’t jam when I needed it.

Apparently Bryce Dejean-Jones was looking for an ex gf and went into the wrong apartment. This could have ended very badly for her. He obviously he wasn’t there just to say “Hi”. Kicking in two doors. That dude was out of control. No way of knowing what he would have done if he had gone into the right apartment and found her.

I do feel badly for his 1 yr old daughter. She’ll grow up never knowing her father.

Deserved to? Not necessarily. But if you’re doing something criminal and/or stupid where death is a realistic outcome, don’t die with a look of surprise on your face. Stupid today doesn’t care about anything you did before today.

In other news,Homeowner shoots two suspects during attempted break in

The 1:35 p.m. incident happened in the 5400 block of West Outer Drive.

The homeowner fired two shots striking the two male suspects, Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski said. He said one of the shot suspects stayed at the scene while the other fled on foot.

DGU with no deaths. Seems pretty perfunctory - attempt to break into a house, 2v1, get shot. I suspect many incidents like this just aren’t news worthy.

In other news,HPD: Homeowner shoots, kills burglar in southwest Houston

It may have taken Triplett and Hamby a minute to realize what had just happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning but when they found one of their neighbors shot and killed an intruder, it wasn’t a surprise anymore.

“This is not the end of it, it’s just getting closer and closer to our front door,” Hamby said.

He means that literally, telling Channel 2 his next door neighbor was burglarized hours before the intruder homicide. Houston police have not made that connection yet.

My good news: I dropped a nasty little (about the size of a liter bottle) predator from about 80 yards with my .22. I had about 2 seconds to aim and fire before it bolted. Squeezed the trigger and dropped that fucker!

Wife went out to the chicken pen the next day and found eggs for the first time in weeks.

In other news, Police: Shooting During Fight in Queen Village Was Self-Defense

The man was with his wife on the 700 block of S. 2nd Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when they walked past a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man. The wife told police one of the men asked her husband, “What are you looking at?” to which her husband replied, “What are you looking at?” The wife said both men then punched her husband and threw him to the ground and continued to beat him.

Two other witnesses also told police they heard the commotion, looked out their window and saw the two men beating the 65-year-old. Another witness who was walking by at the time told police the two men were standing over the 65-year-old and repeatedly kicking him.

The 65-year-old man took out a .45 caliber pistol and opened fire striking the 21-year-old in the shoulder and the 20-year-old in the stomach. The two men were taken to Jefferson Hospital where they are both in stable condition.

DGU with no deaths. 2v1 and the one prevailed. Given the age disparity I’d say the 65 year old victim was very fortunate he was able to defend himself and his wife.

In other news, St. Lucie robbery victim acted in self defense when he killed 1, injured another, sheriff says

Davis and his friends, Michael Cunningham, 20, and David Quintero, 20, were outside when they were approached by the robbers, the Sheriff’s Office said. Quintero is a resident of Cypress Bay.

The suspects frisked Davis and took his wallet and cellphone, but did not find his gun, Mascara said. One of the suspects, armed with a gun, was pointing it at Davis, who was on the ground, he told detectives. Davis lost some teeth from the pistol whipping and possibly a broken nose, Mascara said.

“He was obviously scared,” Mascara said. “He wasn’t just in fear of his own life, but feared for his friends.”

When the armed suspect looked away, Davis pulled out his gun and fired eight times, striking Orvis four times, the Sheriff’s Office said. One bullet struck and wounded the hospitalized suspect. Investigators don’t know if the at-large suspect was wounded.

DGU with one death and multiple injuries. 3v2 with the attackers having the upper hand until the victim was able to use his own weapon to defend himself and the other victim. 8 shots and at least 5 hits, with one of the robbers able to flee it’s unknown if he was also hit.

In other news, Deadly home invasion: 3 local teens face murder charge

Arrest affidavits filed in the case show Hollins admitted to entering the Cleveland County residence with three other individuals for the purpose of stealing money, drugs and firearms. The affidavit shows Hollins admitted he had a shotgun and knew the homeowner was inside prior to the burglary.
Hollins also admitted that he forcible made entry into the home by kicking in the door, where they were confronted by the homeowner who fired a weapon at them, the warrant reads.

DGU with 1 death. I can’t tell if it was 4 or 3 burglars, but in any case, the armed homeowner prevailed. T

In other news, Gun-toting Good Samaritan tackles purse-snatcher off bike in Squirrel Hill

According to police, an 85-year-old woman was sitting on a bench in the parking lot of the grocery store when the suspect, wearing a blue ski mask, grabbed her purse from her grocery cart and ran.

A 26-year-old woman started yelling and ran after the suspect. That alerted a 31-year-old man, who saw the suspect riding away on a black bicycle with the purse, police said.

The man ran after the suspect as his bicycle turned left onto Beacon Street, caught up with the bicycle and knocked the man off it. The man told the suspect he had a gun, then removed his pistol from its holster, police said. The man, who has a concealed-carry permit, told police he never pointed the gun at the suspect before quickly reholstering it.

When the thief finally escaped, the guy did not fire at him on the street, where he might hit someone else. Good judgement. I imagine one cannot fire at a guy running-or pedaling-away.
