Positive Gun News of the Day

Body armor?

Yeah, body armor - mostly vests but also more substantial ballistic-resistant items - is available from various sources, mostly online. Nothing illegal about it. Unfortunately, some determined criminals are buying it to improve their chances if they get shot at by would-be victims or police. These were serious armed robbers, or at least they wanted to be serious armed robbers, choosing a cash-rich business and wearing masks and body armor. Kudos to the business manager.

I had to open the link to make sure it wasn’t an old link. I know I remember this exact scenario within the last year. Attempting a dispensary holdup in body armor.

DGU with no deaths. 4v1 and the one prevailed. Another example where with modern medicine being shot was not fatal. Placement is key and a person can continue to be a threat after they are shot.

In other news,UPDATE: Would Be Robber Shot By Store Owner, Charged, Identified

DGU with no deaths. Pretty straightforward on this one - it’s difficult to control multiple people simultaneously and especially when one of them is armed.

In other news, Woman shoots estranged husband at Decatur home

DGU with one death. Terrible that the kids were home, but the estranged husband doesn’t seem like a stand up kind of guy. Literally any more.

Military service, administratively discharged. Honorable? PTSD? Very sad, all the way around.

But Positive! nonetheless.

In other news, Hartford homeowner shoots intruder during attempted home invasion

DGU with no deaths. Home invader shot in the upper chest and still able to be treated and released - another example where shot placement is key and that a threat may not be eliminated with a single shot.

Man fatally shot while stalking ex-girlfriend

Apparently moving out of state wasn’t an obvious enough hint.

In other news, Alleged home intruder shot, killed by resident

DGU with one death. Intruder brought a claw hammer to a gunfight. Clearly probation in the past wasn’t enough to change the intruder’s ways.

Hunter saves deer from huge Python.
Not your typical DGU story. but a innocent life was saved.

Very interesting video. Pythons are an invasive species wiping out Florida’s native animals. This deer was saved just in time.

Thanks, Ace.

I (a California resident) am up in Oregon for the weekend. At a small town rummage sale someone was selling handguns, cash, no questions asked, no background check - a strange, new world for a (usually) law-abiding California shooter. One was a very nice Smith .38sp revolver with sweet wooden grips. Very comfortable.

Don’t ask, don’t tell: don’t ask me, and I won’t tell you.

The Second Amendment is alive and well in some states: that is my positive gun news for the day.

Like carnivorousplant, yes, thanks aceplace57. A gun can be handy when you’re out and about amongst undesired critters, whether they are 2-legged critters, 4-legged critters, or slithering no-legged critters. When hiking out in the middle of nowhere, for example, if a mountain lion takes too much of an interest in me, I’d like to be prepared.

It seemed to take a lot of shots to kill the python. I doubt he missed at that close range.

It’s always a good idea to carry a gun in the woods. Wild hogs are a problem in parts of my state. Very dangerous and unpredictable.

We hike in our woods several times a week. My gf carries a compressed air horn. The last time she saw a black bear it was running away before she even had the horn out of her pocket.

Depends

Also where I am at and what might/could/has been reported in that area.

Gun free zones = gun
Gun shows = CCW
Old houses = anti-slime suit
dark woods = flashlight
snake pit = I follow the flame thrower in.

You’re a tough guy. I follow the grenade.

In other news, Knife-Wielding Intruder Shot by Homeowner in San Bernardino

DGU with no deaths. Guy brought a hunting knife to a gun fight apparently.
