In other news, Police: Masked robber shot during attempted robbery
Waynesboro Police Chief Jim Sourbier said on Tuesday that Antietam Pharmacy employees showed composure and restraint during the 5:15 p.m. armed robbery when a man wearing a ski mask entered the store. He brandished a handgun and demanded money. Sourber added the man also attacked pharmacy employees and threatened their lives.
…
One pharmacy employee then drew his concealed, legally owned handgun and fired four rounds, Sourbier said.
The would-be robber suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Sourbier said. He was taken to Waynesboro Hospital, then was airlifted to York Hospital for trauma. On Tuesday, the man remained hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.
DGU with no deaths. 4 rounds inside a store with multiple hits on the bad guy and no other injuries. Shot placement matters.
But, did they give him a flu shot and bandages afterwards?
This one (from my general neck of the woods) was back in July, but appears to have been missed:
Burglary suspect killed in Gwinnett home invasion
A homeowner early Friday shot and killed a man who tried to break into his Gwinnett County home, police said.
The slain man was identified as Michael Silva, 25, of Snellville, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said Friday afternoon.
Silva lived less than a half-mile from the shooting location, Washington said.
“Though it is uncommon for residential burglaries to take place at 4 a.m., detectives believe that Silva’s motive was burglary,” Washington said. “The homeowners have been questioned and released and will not face any criminal charges.”
DGU with one death. Burglary definitely becomes a higher stakes crime at 4 a.m., when the occupants are likely at home.

In other news, MCSO: Drunken intruder takes off soiled shorts, barges into closet before woman shoots him
The 54 year-old woman, whose name is not being released for security concerns, was in her kitchen when Victor Alex Etherington, 27, began to knock on the window. She did not recognize him and asked him to leave, the report states.
Etherington kicked in the front door as the woman ran up the stairs into a bedroom, phoned 911 and armed herself with a .22 caliber handgun. As Etherington also headed up the stairs, she took refuge in a closet in the bedroom.
The MCSO reports states that Ehterington “forced his way into the bedroom, took off his shorts, which he had defecated in, and forced entry into the closet where the victim was hiding.”
The woman fired one shot, which hit Etherington in the abdomen “and stopped him,” the report states.
DGU with no deaths. The best gun is the one you have, though I’d not want to rely on a single shot with a .22. Again shot placement is critical to stopping threats immediately. "…which he had defecated in…it is believed the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.” I would assume more than alcohol.

In other news, Shop owner holds car thief at gunpoint until police arrive
He has recognized the car through posts on social media. He figured out that the man stole the Mini and is trying to sell parts off the car. Charlton played along. First, he locked up the shop.
“He was a little nervous and freaked out by that. I said ‘chill out, I’m closing down for the day. I’m going to go up and get your money. Plus I need to get the business phone in case anybody calls,’” he said.
Charlton called police, but had to find a way to keep the thief occupied and unsuspecting. He started grabbing random tools that could be used to uninstall the car seats before making an excuse to head up to the office. The thief followed.
“That’s when I grabbed the pistol there and told him to sit down and relax,” Charlton said.
Charlton said the thief tried to negotiate, offering the keys and car for his freedom. But Charlton held the gun and waited for police to arrive.
DGU with no injuries. Quick thinking and cooler heads ends up with a good outcome.
In other news, UPDATE: Names of men shot and killed by homeowner during break-in released
The homeowner tells WSAZ his niece called, saying there was a strange car parked outside his home. When the homeowner went out to investigate, he found the two men carrying out his tools from his garage.
“I came around the garbage box, and this guy saw me so he took off on the left side of the vehicle and stopped at the left side to get something out, and I went around the right side to keep the vehicle between me and him,” the homeowner said. “And he came around with a gun, so I shot him, and the other guy came around the garage with something and I shot him. One collapsed at the front, and one collapsed at the rear of the vehicle.”
DGU with 2 deaths. 2v1 and the one prevailed.
I’m not sure the homeowner would be in the clear in Arkansas. The cc class I took stressed that protecting property isn’t a justification for shooting in Arkansas.
Bad guy did show a weapon. That may give the homeowner the right to shoot. I’m not sure.
I would have shot too. But I’d want a lawyer with me before getting questioned by the cops.

The homeowner who is woman’s 74-yer-old grandmother asked him to leave. We’re told Thomas left and came back to the house with a knife. The grandmother shot him.
DGU with no deaths. 73 year old vs. 23 year old who brought a knife to a gun fight. I wonder if she intended to shoot him in the leg.

Pastor attacked during attempted robbery. He gets pistol whipped. His wife shoots bad guy in leg. Both have cc permits. Could have turned out much worse if the pastor’s wife had been unarmed.
I like this pastor’s attitude. LOL

The couple said they both bought guns for self-defense. Robert Cook had left his Glock 44 at home that night.
“We both have concealed carry permits because we live in a crazy world and people put shotguns in your face,” the pastor said.
The incident remains under investigation and the would-be robber has not been identified or charged yet.
The Cooks said they will forgive him.
“It would be nice if he found Jesus,” Robert Cook said. “But I think he belongs in jail and he can find Jesus there.”

In other news, UPDATE: Robbery suspect shot by customer dies
East Ridge police say Anthony Edmond,53, pulled a meat cleaver out on a clerk at marathon gas station and demanded cash. As Edmonds left with the clerk, Charles Russell,33, says he heard Edmonds shout he had a gun and would kill the clerk.
Russell then went to his car and got a gun and after a brief altercation between the two, Russell shot and killed Edmonds. Police say Russell had a carry permit and was a “Bounty Hunter.”
DGU with one death. Robber brought a meat cleaver to a gun fight. In his haste for cash and cigarettes he decided to take a store clerk hostage. It sounds like the shooter engaged in some kind of hostage rescue shot, but other reports indicates that the robber released the hostage to attack the person intervening and that’s when he was shot.

At about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, a man wearing a private security uniform and wielding a knife walked into the Crossroads Center mall near Sears and started stabbing people, according to St. Cloud police. The man wounded 9 shoppers before he was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer in the Macy’s. Family members identified the suspect as 22-year-old Dahir Adan.

In other news, Suspect in Spokane Valley credit union robbery is arrested; was apparently shot
A robbery suspect who apparently was shot by a bystander inside a credit union in Spokane Valley last week was arrested Tuesday at a nearby motel.
…
Security images from the credit union’s surveillance camera showed a man wielding a gun and hopping over a counter to steal money. Witnesses told investigators a customer inside the branch pulled out a handgun and fired at the robber.
Detectives reported finding blood at the scene, and one security image showed what appeared to be a large patch of blood on the robber’s sweatshirt.
Authorities haven’t released the name of the customer who shot the robber. But they said he had a license to carry a concealed handgun and has retained a lawyer.
DGU with no deaths. Apparently the robber had hit two other banks, and was using a replica firearm. It sounds like the customer kept his cool in a tense situation. Identifying yourself as the victim, saying you were defending yourself or acting within the law, then retaining counsel is the usually the best course of action.

In other news, Homeowners Hold Burglar At Gunpoint
This morning (Friday) at 7:45 am, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence on East Moyer Drive when the homeowner found a man in her garage.

DGU with no injuries. Burglar brought a screwdriver to a gunfight. Nice that both residents were armed.
In other news, Grandmother with gun confronts intruders in her house
About 12:45 Tuesday afternoon she went to the peephole and saw a man was at her front door, banging on the door, ringing the bell.
He left but came back a few minutes later, with a T-shirt over his head, and putting on gloves, so she ran to the bedroom to get a handgun from the dresser beside her bed.
“I heard something, glass breaking and then I was freaking out,” she recalled.
Three menthree burglars---- were in her living room, and she was in the bedroom standing just inside the doorway ready to shoot them if they entered.
“I decided that it’s either them or me, you know. I had to save my life. One of them came to the door here and opened it and when he did I had the gun in his face,” she said.
DGU with no injuries. 3v1 and the one prevailed with no shots fired, though I would hope that the grandmother would assume a more defensive position and train to avoid hesitation.
