Basically, a Fox exec has said that they’re onboard if Joss Whedon is.
That’d be very cool! Probably unlikely, but very cool.
Eh. The show was about the characters, not the setting. Two of them are dead in-universe (one actor in reality) and the rest have aged out of the “young adventurer” demographic, so having them all still hanging out together on the same spaceship 15 years later is not only implausible but rather sad. The (space)ship has sailed. The only way Firefly should be continued it to go back in time and not cancel it.
They could pull it off. Could be older and wiser versions of the old characters, or with proper writing and direction, new actors to play the characters.
I hope not.
Firefly is done, and no reboot will ever capture lightning in a bottle quite that way.

Agreed. As much as I loved Firefly – and as much as all of the actors, and Whedon, loved it – I’d be very skeptical that a revival now would have much of a chance of success.
I wouldn’t want to see younger actors in a reboot, either.
I think it’s been too long. I mean… yes, Gilmore Girls came back… but still… Maybe like that, or like when they brought back Rockford Files for short movie-based episodes… But maybe for this cast it’s been too long.
That said, I still think they should flesh-out Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog… That still has feet.
I’ve heard fans bandy about the idea of an animated series. That, I think, just might be able to work. But I can’t see them pulling it off with the live-action show.
I think it could work for another one-shot movie, but a series seems like a bad idea at this point.
Meh, just have Fillion, Tudyk, Staite, and the others join the Expanse cast and I’ll be happy.
Unless the animated series is done with motion capture (Especially of facial reactions) I don’t see it working. It was the actors/script that made it, which is true for most Joss Vehicles.

I think it would have to involve a partially new cast. Nathan’s character, and a few more of the old cast, can be the older characters in a half new crew.
I’d vote for new characters and stories in the same universe. The original cast members could be worked in. The writing would have to be as good as the original.
I agree with River Hippie. I don’t see it working any other way. New characters, different Firefly. It’s the VW Microbus of the 'Verse. Let’s see more stories about the people who have flown in one.
Yeah, I think that’s the only way this could work. Even then the Fox Network should have as little to do with in as possible.
