Possible Republican Refusal of SOTU Address?

I’d like to see it become law that POTUS has to deliver his SOTU address via television while in the free-fall portion of a sky dive. It would make for brevity, and also, in future elections, the voting public would start paying attention to who’s the VP on the ticket.

Just so you’re no longer confused about my position on where I expect Obama to deliver his SOTU address, I fully expect Obama to be speaking from the U.S. House floor. I also expect that Congress will unanimously pass a resolution allowing the event to happen.

You would think so, but I’m not so sure. Obama can continue to issue Executive Memoranda, or Executive Orders, or Executive Privilage and, what is it that Obama sez, something about Congress then passing a bill to change or override his edicts?

If Obama wanted to pass legislation that has been created thru debate and compromise as it passed thru Congress, he could have done so. Unfortunately, Obama doesn’t seem to have the job skills to push a bill thru Congress. Odd, considering that Obama did spent time voting present as a member of the U.S. Senate.

The president has the constitutional power to issue executive orders. That power is limited, and as the President has said many times, is no substitute for Congressional action. Your Saint Ronnie issued 381 executive orders, almost twice as many as President Obama, so I don’t know what you are complaining about.

By the way, I have been unable to find anywhere that President Obama said, “I don’t need Congress.”

Or one could make a case for November 6, 2012, election day. Once those events happened, it was a forgone conclusion that Obama will address Congress.
