Post Chronology

Whilst trying to get a handle on who said what to whom and when I keep running into the problem of the post count.

No matter which post I look at, even in the searched ones, it always displays the sum total of all the posts that person has made.

The problem comes when there are posts across several threads sometimes slightly related to each other, it gets hard to realise that someone may have said something that they have already regretted or it may appear that a comment is hypocritical when the posters position has already changed due to having recieved more information.

Is it worth going to the old system of ensuring each post by an individual is individually numbered ?

I know the world will not suddenly end over such a small matter, I wonder if anyone feels differantly.

I know it’s a lot more trouble, but I’ve been getting by checking the date and time posted at the bottom of each message. Not nearly as convenient as individually numbered posts, but I’m afraid to suggest anything different for fear the new search engine will keel over and die. I wonder if your suggestion is do-able, or if that was one of the reasons the old UBB search was always screwed up?

Would be a nice feature . . .

Apparently the post count function only works as displayed.

But even on UBB, we only had the option of showing or not showing it, the totals always updated whenever a thread was opened.
