Lol. I thought you were done with me. Anyway, see my previous post, liar-boy.
Do you not see how you’re being hoist on your own petard here?
You claim, in effect, that the behavior of ‘tightie-righties’ can’t be generalized, and then you turn around generalize about us yourself, as shown in the bolded parts above. If there is no distinction that can be drawn about conservatives, why use phrases like ‘tighty-righties’ and ‘you and your ilk’?
Now, having said that, I can tell you as a matter of broad experience that people with leftie political alignment are far less concerned with, nor likely to adhere to, conventions of politeness and civilty and manners when out in public or even among themselves than are conservatives. This is a primary reason why conservatives are called tighty-righties.
I add XT who is long winded ,spells well and is always wrong.
Do you really think it’s polite to state, repeatedly, that everything that has gone wrong with America in the last 50 years is the fault of liberals? No, it’s not. It’s rude, insulting, and not based in any demonstrable fact. I don’t know how you can not see that, after a 10 or so page Pit thread about it. It’s ironic that you’re accusing askeptic of painting with a broad brush when you do it pretty much every time you talk about politics. In fact, I think the only brush you possess is about 3 miles wide.
The past campaign season would seem to put the lie to this.
It’s neither rude nor impolite; it’s a simple statement of fact.
The difference in life culturally then vs. now can pretty much be summed up thusly, and I don’t believe conservatives are responsible for it:
It’s so rude to point out that Starving Artist has only a passing acqaintance w/ reality.
I don’t think i’d call it hate, but i’m not a fan of elucidator. I’m not always a fan of Shodan’s driveby postings either, or **Der Trihs’ **automatic contempt for religion, but they do stick around and argue for what they believe. With elucidator it seems to be the wit and that’s it.
I was just using your own term.
Notice the part you bolded where I said some are and some aren’t that is not most reality based people consider generalizing.
I can see how people dealing with you in real life would tend to dispense with politeness a person can only take so much bull shit…
No, the primary reason I did it in this instance is because you refered to youself that way. And now we have come full circle…
Allow me to add Starving Artist to my list for not knowing the difference between fact and opinion and for having a tenuous grasp on reality.
I think it’s very helpful that several people have stepped up to *illustrate *why people don’t like them.
Graham’s LBV, feller. It can be improved on, but you have to spend a fair chunk o’ change to do so.
I can guarantee you that if you were to go to anyplace where large numbers of people hang out (fairs, malls, Wal-Mart, etc.), and somehow have the ability to separate the people there as conservative vs. liberal, you will find the majority of crassness, vulgarity and trailer-trash type of behavior coming from the liberal contingent. You will also find worse, sloppier, and/or intentionally off-putting modes of clothing and a generally more rude, beligerent and entitled attitude coming from the lefties as well.
Not every liberal behaves this way of course, but among those who do the pro-liberal lifestyle predominates. Thus my claim that conservatives in general are more polite and well-mannered than liberals, election season or no.
I can make assertions without providing evidence, too.
So, how many people came in hoping that they’d be mentioned?
Any attention’s good attention. Why, I posted early on specifically to prompt a mention! (Though I couldn’t really expect one; I wasn’t able to even bring myself to apply properly unrelenting snark to my denunciation of Skald the Rhymer)
It is both rude and impolite, as well as false. Also, your opinion =/= fact. Your uncanny ability to confuse the two makes it so much easier to disregard your arguments. You do your opponents’ work for them. Thanks for that.
How pleasant it must be for you to believe that your side has a complete lock on being righteous, polite, and correct, and that your enemies are to blame for everything. What a relief not to be able to see shades of grey, and to absolve yourself and those who agree with you of responsibility for the way the world is. You’re unable to see the subtleties of life, but I bet you don’t even miss them. After all, they’d require to you to take some responsibility for the world being an imperfect place, and that would be too complex and uncomfortable.
Always fun talking to you, SA.
Sorry, but I’ve seen NASCAR fans in their native environment.
Here, I’ll bring up something I’ve noticed in your posting that I guess could be described as a vague and mild annoyance. You seem to be unable to get your first post right in your response to a GC thread. You’ll make a post, edit it, and guaranteed you’ll have followed it up immediately to clarify something or the other, possibly editing this second post and sometimes including additional posts. It’s not something I hate per se, it’s more something I found humorous once I noticed the trend. Maybe click preview a few times and iron things out next time?
Surely, you mean GQ?
ETA: Or perhaps GD. Damn…
