"Posting Sabbatical"?

Under Inigo Montoya’s username, his membership status reads “Posting Sabbatical.” I haven’t seen this before, and a search in this forum and by keyword didn’t turn up any clues. What does it mean?

It is especially strange as he’s been posting today. That’s some sabbatical  .

Sometimes people need to take a break for one reason or another.

The reasons are varied as to circumstance and individual, but most often it’s employed by people facing special projects/big deadlines who need a little help staying away from the board. They figure if they can read but not post they won’t linger and will get their work done instead.

You may request a posting sabbatical at any time.

When this happens you have all the privileges members usually have . . . except that you cannot make posts.

The subscription clock still ticks, everything else goes on, and when you’re ready to become a posting member of the community again, all it takes is a an email to me to switch you back to where you wuz.

Thanks for the answer Tuba.

Inigo, you need to get off of that damned pirate ship and get your butt back here right away buster.

I mean I hope all is well and you come back soon, 'k?

Thanks again, Tuba. I knew people sometimes asked to be suspended, but I didn’t know that there was a seperate title for it. Good to know!

That’s a great option. Glad to know it’s in place. It beats spanking myself with a newspaper and throwing myself out the window. (Old joke.)

Seriously, thanks.
