I nominate P.J. O’Rourke for President, with Hunter S. Thompson as his running mate.
This is one of the many reasons I like Ed Rendell, former mayor of Philadelphia and now head of the Democratic National Committee. He was socially a liberal, but fiscally a republican - he could run a tight, responsible budget and make everybody legitimately happy. Philadelphia is the best it’s ever been thanks to his leadership.
Alas, he left us with {shudder} John Street. I weep for the future.
