Powerpoint question

I have a powerpoint slide show which has a .wav file attached to the first slide, and continues playing as background for all the other slides.

Is it possible to convert this to a format which can be copied to a CD and be viewed (and listened) by a person who does not have PowerPoint on their computer? Or even better, converted to a VCD or DVD format which could be viewed on a DVD player?

I know that Microsoft has a free Powerpoint Viewer which can be downloaded, but I’m looking for other options if they’re available.

Thanks.

My question is how did you get the .wav to play thru the entire slideslow!! I’ve tried before but i never figured it out.

Check out your options under “Save as…” You can save in html format and some others. I don’t see any options which would create an executable file, meaning you could run it on its own without any other program to read it. However, I don’t even recognize a few of the options on the list.

After you attach the .wav to a slide, right click on the sound icon, then go to Custom Animation | Multimedia settings. Check the buttons for “While playing: Continue slide show” and “Stop playing: After xx slides.”

Here are some links to the kind of information I think you’ll want. Looks like it’s possible, though I’ve not personally tried doing this. From one of the links:

Have you tried the “Pack-and-go” option under the “file” drop-down menu in Powerpoint? I’ve only used it once a long time ago, but I think its purpose is to do what you’re asking.

Alternately, you could save your powerpoint slides as .jpeg image files and then put them into Microsoft MovieMaker (comes with Windows XP–you may already have it without knowing it). You will have to put your .wav file into the moviemaker file also, but it’s very simple to do–just drag and drop.
