Prehistoric Creature Day is Nigh

I stopped on the way home from work to adopt a dinosaur for tomorrow…and they didn’t have any dinosaurs in the toy department!!! :frowning:

That’s terrible!

I went to Toys R Us on my lunch break, and adopted a box. There are four ‘big’ plastic dinosaurs and four babies. When I got back to the office with my big bag, curiosity was aroused. When asked, I matter-of-factly replied that I’d bought dinosaurs. Eventually I let a few people in on Prehistoric Creatures Day, and now there are four of us who will be celebrating. The receptionist wants one for her desk for the day, and the dinos will be accompanying us to the company golf tournament and dinner.

I thought I would be the only one, but it appears this special day is really catching on, at least in our office.

No I am not tasty, not in an office … okay, so I’m no Dr. Seuss.

Don’t fret. I told him to back off. He was muttering something about Cthulhu being in your office and that meant you wanted to be eaten first and he was just trying to be helpful and lizardling, that’s a little lizard, right? and those are better, just like lamb or veal and children first and on and on and on. He pulled this up on the computer, like it proved something. Anyway, there’s no way he can get to the Great Pacific Northwet today and now he’s eyeing the triceratops and I have to go separate those two again…

Happy Prehistoric Creatures Day!

Rarr! I’m going out to dinner!

The Prehistoric Creatures are having a good day at the office so far.

Hey everyone–read this Craigslist ad very, very closely.

I adopted a Stegosaurus on the way out tonight, whom I promptly named George. We then went to dinner at Red Lobster, where I introduced him to a few of the servers. Apparently, my explanation amused the hell out of a neighbouring table, as they told me to enjoy the rest of my dinosaur day as they left.

I’m afraid I wasn’t terribly good company to George. He doesn’t talk much, and I usually read when eating. I’ll have to see if I can find someone to share the meal with on the next Prehistoric Creatures Day. George ought to have some company. As far as I could tell, I was the only celebrant there.

I took my dinosaurs out for the day. I took them to work where they amused themselves. Then we went to dinner. They shared a salad (no dressing!), and I had a cheeseburger (no picture). Dinosaurs are not known for their table manners, but we all cleaned up afterward. The dinos were so pleased with the night out that they even chipped in out of their allowances to help with the tip.

Yes, everyone there thought I was strange, and I am. A few people got a kick out of it and the hostess took a picture of us all with her phone camera. A worthwhile outing I’d say.

All we have is a tiny purple Barney. He stayed in the house when went out to eat.

Unfortunately that little shit destroyed the house and ate our dog. What a prehistoric bastard.

Next time I will take the damn dinosaur out.

When will the next Prehistoric Creatures Day be?

February 2009

Well, the Prehistoric Creatures had a great day. They went to the office for the morning, where they were provided with accessories, including party hats. We wanted them to enjoy the day, so they lazed around a bit, then wanted to assist us while we worked in the morning. They had a snack mid-morning.

Then we headed off to the company golf tournament. We enjoyed a beverage, and were quite enthusiastic about it. We had to cut them off, though as it was time to play.

We headed out for golf, where they checked out the game. The beer boy played along. We paused occasionally, as none of us are very good golfers. They met a descendent, even, which pleased them greatly.

The dinosaurs had salmon, salad, potatoes and pasta salad for dinner, with Nanaimo bar for dessert. Unfortunately, for dinner they requested that no photographs be taken while they ate.

Great pictures Savannah. It looks like you and your brood had a great holiday.

I can’t believe no one else has pictures of their celebrations.

Wait, if the next PCD is in February, that means that there will be another one in March then, won’t there?

Two in a row!
